Picked up some Monitor 7B's!

Worked out a trade and got some nice 7B's with peerless tweeter. Much smoother than my 7C's. I just love the M7's. Polk really nailed it on these budget hi-fi speakers. Sure, it would have been nice to have thicker cabinets and real wood veneer.

Congrats! I almost pulled the trigger on some SL2000 7C's a couple weeks ago for only $85 but I don't need anymore speakers. Posted them on the vintage deals thread some somebody here picked them up a day or two later.
There are 10 Peerless tweeters in my apartment right now. I like 'em too.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Congrats. The 7s are a KEEPER!
I always keep a set of 7s in the "permanent" collection which also includes 5As, 10As and SDA-2Bs.

Cool deal, I have 5's and I love them w the Peerless tweeters. I could not believe how good they sound when I hooked them up to this old Sansui G9000DB. Positioned right these things amazed me. I cant even dream of how good some 7's would sound. I currently have my "ear to the ground", I will have some...

^^^^ agree. Awhile back i had - i think it was a Sansui G2000 small little receiver on a pair of 5 w/peerless tweets & on tilt stands & wow it was unbelievable how good it sounded you can spend lots of money & still not get the sounds as the 5's or 7's give ya..

We better not tell too many folks...you know...may make it harder to find the deals! -
I have early 7As w/ the perrless tweeters. The only complaint about these speakers are not the speakers themselves but the cabinets. I'm a real wood guy and would rather have have seen them in walnut and not vinyl wrapped in faux rosewood that peels over time. Otherwise M7s as Dave said are the sweet spot because of being perfect size , living room presentable (condition pending), powerful enough and room filling w/ tunes o'plenty.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Veneer?? I have read it is not too hard to put on the 7's. I want to try it one day however I have never been so hot at working with wood and I am way too cheap to pay someone to put it on. If I do try one day when the bug hits (and it will) I will take pictures and mount them up here on C.P.. -
Yup, the 7's are really nice sounding. I know someone who could build me some baltic birch plywood cabinets to replace the particle board Polk cabs. I'm not sure how much that would cost.

I don't feel the need to upgrade from my 7B's. I just love how they sound.

My 7B's had Dave do the crossover upgrades and sound better than a pair of speakers costing a couple thousand. The sound is great, wish I could do something with the cabinetsMain Rig:
