I got the soundbar 6000 as a gift a few years ago and from day 1 it has had this problem with the sub going into protect mode after about 10 minutes of use. I have to shut it off for a few minutes to get it to work but then it will happen again. How do i fix this problem

Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. It sounds as though the auto on/off is shutting off the sub because there's no low frequencies keeping it on. Are you watching a program that doesn't have much bass information? An older movie or TV show?
What happens if you watch a fairly recent action/adventure movie on your DVD player?

I have the same problem but go's to flashing red in 10-15 minutes with good bass signal. Any advice?

The first thing to try is to reduce the bass level of the subwoofer slightly and see if the unit still goes into protection mode.

I've tried turning it down so I could just hear it, gets a few more minutes. Is there any repair manuals, specs, diagrams available? I want to take it apart and check speaker ohms (guessing it a 8ohm). If that's ok not sure of layout of amp, guess I'll have to open it and find out.

The best source of help will be Polk's CS department at 1-800-377-7655 or via email to polkcs@polkaudio.com. This time of year telephoning would be best.
