Does anyone else here have one of the bogus VW diesels?

I am having a hard time finding any current news on this fiasco.

There isn't a solid plan yet. And this fiasco only applies to vehicles without an ad blue system. What is going to happen is vehicle will have an ad blue system retrofitted to your vehicle and a software flash. The result will likely be a small loss in horsepower and the vehicle having the ad blue system topped up at each service. This recall will apply to all vehicles with the "clean diesel" engine. And isn't restricted to nvlw (new vehicle limited warranty). As far as I know the vws are only failing the emissions requirements for California.

I worked for Volkswagen for 6 years. I only recently quit to work for a small shop. I still have strong ties with the vw dealership here in Calgary. So this info is straight from the horses mouth. The power loss and mileage is very minimal. I bet you wouldn't even notice. If your info is current with vw America, you would have received a letter in the mail by now. I bought my golf R from the dealer and haven't updated my address after moving, I did however receive a letter in the mail the other day for the airbag recall. They found me!

The EPA excells at making mountains out of mole hills. Of course, when it comes to their seriously toxic gold mine screw up they act like it's no big deal.

They didn't get any traction blaming climate change on cows, so now they are going after pumpkins. These people are completely whacked.

There is a whole aftermarket based on reflashing for more horsepower.
There are a lot of vehicles out there that no longer meet epa rules.
if they hadn't of made such a big deal out of being "clean"
I don't think they would of been singled out as badly.

Some People make a big deal out of everything. We have customers calling us with gasoline engines saying they want compensation because vws name is now tarnished... Seriously how ridiculous is that?!

He commissioned Ferdinand Porsche to build a car that was cheap, could run all day, and could hit 100kph. This turned into the VW Beetle. Porsche was already building cars before Hitler. Did Hitler start VW? Indirectly.

I traded down to this VW from an MB
  • Here in California I have spent nearly half my life getting hopped up cars to pass SMOG tests.
One car I just swapped engines when it was time to test.
Even today I re-install my catted mid pipe, exhaust system, stock exhaust manifolds, stock supercharger, and engine computer. Passes fine, then re-install all the "good parts"
Never get pulled over by the SMOG police due to my appearance. Old.

What pisses me off the most is that I have a friend with a garage with all the California SMOG test equipment. He ran a SMOG test for me with all the "good part" installed including my E-85 race tune and it passed the tailpipe test with flying colors. But since the car has non authorized parts it is illegal to drive on the city streets.
Stupid **** SMOG laws. And don't get me started on them making BBQ charcoal lighter illegal in the Los Angeles Basin.

I would imagine you do, but if your not passing emissions tests down the road, what then ? If you sell your car, not having the upgrade may affect your re-sale value also.

This is a huge clusterf**k for VW, one certainly to hurt them for years to come.

That's a heck of a lot of trouble to go through to past an emissions test. You do that every year ? If so, your a better man than me.

Gotta love Jeremy Clarkson's response to this whole thing:

    http://www.motoringbox.com/cars/car-news/clarkson-springs-to-the-defence-of-volkswagen/

From the article... "if VW goes out of business “the fallout would be immense because it owns Audi, Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat and Skoda as well. So they’d also go to the wall. And without the profits from these engineering powerhouses Germany would no longer be in a position to bail out the Greeks or house half of Syria. Which would cause global economic collapse, a humanitarian catastrophe and many plagues.”

    lol.

The $500 pre-paid Visa card can be spent anywhere that accepts Visa. It's not credit.
