is it ok to do this?

I recently bought some rti12, csi5, and surround. I am looking at purchasing the denon 5803a. I would be using a 5.1 surround setup. Could i use the unused two remaining channels and add them to the front floor speakers. I would therefore have 2 channels running each floor speaker. These rti12's are power hungry, and i am wondering if this would be ok for the speakers. Also, is there any disadvantage to doing this?

Thanks

I guess my first thought is you would end up with a hodge podge on information running to your fronts. The signals being fed to the front speakers would be a combomation of front and surround information???
I am taking a wild shot in the dark here by saying your Rec and speakers will be ok...it's the information (sound) that your feeding to the 12's that would end up sounding terrible.
Some of you guys care to chime in on this one? Doro? Russ?
    What do you guys think?

    NO,
the Denon avr5803 has more then enough power to drive your easy to drive 8 ohm,90db speakers. It's rated at 170 watts per channel but really it only pushes in 2 channel stereo 123 watts full current of 15 amps.5 channel it falls to 113 watts at 15 amps of curent.More then plenty to drive your speakers.

The Denon avr5803 has the ability to drive the 5.1 theater system, then drive a 2nd pair some where else and also has a additional 3rd zone amp.Awesome receiver.

If you feel the avr5803 doesn't have the drive ability to drive your speakers(which I totally disagree)then you should look into something with more current like Rotel or B&K.

Comparing the 2 B&K avr507 and the Denon avr5803 for current, the B&K has 42 amps per channel and the Denon has 15 amps.Big difference but none of which I feel you need.

Your speakers would run perfect off the Denon avr3803 or even the 2803.The 2803 would be the lowest I would go.The 3803 is a perfect match and the 5803 is take it all the way out.

Forget your amps/watts/power hungry quest and enjoy the avr5803.It's one of the very best receivers on the market.
