To spike or not to spike

So I have recently purchased a set of SDA 1C's and I have read a few different boards that have advised removing the base and spiking the speakers. That sounds like a good idea except i have hardwood floors. Even with the spikes resting on say a quarter, will I see much of an audible difference vs. the wood on wood contact I currently have with the original stands? On a separate note since joining the Polk forum I have been amazed by the support and knowledge here. Also, a special shout-out to David (westmassguy) as he has basically held my hand through the upgrading process (upgraded crossovers, interconnect, Dimensional (Sub Bass Drive) Inductors, and binding posts are in the works as we speak!!!

Spike, spike spike. Did I mention to spike? There are nothing but attributes to spiking 1C's, whether it be on a carpeted, wood, concrete, suspended or vinyl floor.
Disclaimer; I am a former owner of one of the most highly modified 1C's to go through this forum.
I wouldn't advise using a quarter though. I would use a spike disk like the ones pictured below.

Thank you for such a quick response...Now would the current stands be removed and the spikes mounted into the cabinet? I have the studio version so I’m a bit hesitant drilling a pilot hole into particle boardPolk SDA 1C Upgraded, Eastern Electric Minimax Supreme DAC, Parasound HCA 1200ii, Belles 21a Preamp, Rotel RSX-1056, Matricom G Box Q, Blue Jean & Signal Cable interconnects, Sonographe SG-3 TT, Panamax M4300-PM

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the construction of the studio version and how it differs from the one I had. I would wait for someone who is knowledgeable with that type to chime in.
BTW, welcome to the forum. I just now noticed that you are a relatively new member here.

First off, you are quite welcome. The hurricane nuts are recommended but I wouldn't recommend rubber for a spike. For that, I would go metal.

Remove the 1" high riser. Fill the four screw holes to prevent any air leakage. Install 1" to 2" high metal spikes by drilling new holes for the threaded inserts. Measure the depth of the threaded insert, then mark the drill bit with a piece of tape so that you know when to stop drilling. Spikes should be mounted near the corners. Use discs like Tom posted to protect your hardwood floor.Political Correctness'.........defined

Heavy Duty for sure Randy. Inexpensive as well. You have to buy the "pucks" separately.
