So I got in the truck this morning slow start, this afternoon almost didn't turn over at all, I've been running a new amp and sub in the truck thought son of a gun the amps draining my battery.

Drove to Sears asked them how long it had been since I bought my Die Hard Silver, they said wow March 2006, that means I got 9 years 7 months out of it. I bought another Silver put it in and hoping for another well let's just say long time, over 9 years has to be a record.

I'm more surprised that there are still Sears stores! ;) I'd have though they'd have sold the Craftsman name to someone on their way out of business by now.

Sears will always have a place for me. My family has been shopping there for decades and I'm hoping my Children also get to shop there when they have families of their own.
Die Hard batteries have always been my Go to Brand when the factory battery died. They always perform well above expectations. I'm not surprised at all you got that kind of life out of yours.

I'm just hoping we don't lose the Craftsman of the world Quantity over Quality. I'm sick and tired of cheap crap.

Craftsman is now made in China. Definitely not what it used to be as far as quality but lifetime warranty so who cares. Snapon, now that's where it's at. :)
Recently, the top brass at Sears had decided to outsource the manufacturing of Craftsman hand tools to places like China and Taiwan. The sockets, ratchets, wrenches and other hand tools you buy are now being made overseas. The quality is nowhere near as good as the USA made stuff.Mar 27, 2013

IIRC, when Die Hard batteries first came out, they were guaranteed to last the life of your car or were replaced for free. Still, 9+ years out of a car battery is pretty darn good, especially when you're in the north country using each and every one of those cold cranking amps.

Got 8 yrs out of my cheap battery from autozone ......

Those craftsman tools from overseas do not have a lifetime warranty anymore or so I've been told here in central Illinois, so I no longer buy there.

Most batteries are made by 3 companies.
They are made to the specs required by the guys ordering them.
Most of them are no longer US made. Recycled lead is the norm now.
So a good battery 10 years ago may not be anything like one
    under the same brand today.

Then I guess it depends on what those specs are, and I imagine it might vary some.

I've always had great experiences with Diehard batteries. Don't know what batteries Lexus uses, but my 1996 Lexus battery lasted 12 years about, I'd say I got my moneys worth. Now my '09 Lexus battery is starting to show signs of being tired.

As costs rise, is it no wonder quality has to be compromised to stay within price points ?

That is great life from a battery. I use Interstate brand.A little more expensive but replacement in a lot of locations. Goldwing guys swear by Deca & Westco batteries. Hard or unobtainium to find for autos. I think new Honda autos come with a relabeled Deca? Peace. D

I used to be a DieHard fan but after years of never getting a good one I started using the Everstart as well, its a fine battery.

Heard about the 3 battery companies about 25 years ago. I used to buy WalMart batteries , but around 7 or8 years ago I decided just to go with Interstate since there was a Interstate store down the street from me. I think the first Interstate battery lasted about 3 1/2 years, had starting issues and I took the car back to Interstate. They checked it out and immediately replaced the battery with a brand new one , free__ of charge. :) Haven't had a single problem with this one.
