Amp recommendation

I have an Anthem Pre 2l and an onkyo 885 processor driving Sda srs2… utilizing an adcom 555ii amp. I recently bought a cs400 Center and fx500 surrounds, as this will be a combo system. I have a lead on a b&k 200.5, which would cover me, but I wonder if im better off adding to the adcom instead. It goes pretty well with the tubes. Any suggestions? Adcom or b&k? Something else?

    If you like the Adcom, why change I say. Pick up an amp for the other channels, doesn't have to be a totl amp. Grab another adcom for the other channels or try the B&k and see which floats your boat more. Think I saw a 5 channel B&k on Chicagos Craigslist for 650. There was also a couple Parasounds in the FM, don't know if they are still available though.

    I like the McCormack amps a lot, but I do think you can do better than the Adcom for your fronts. Marantz has some nice small monoblocks cheap too if you find yourself one or 2 channels short.

    I used tube amps for TV, music and Movies for years.

    If it makes your music sound good why would it not make movies and TV sound good.

    At the time I used one of the outlaw mono blocks flat amps for center and used AVR for surrounds and ANthem Amp 1 to drive SDA 1Cs. Later moved to Wright tube amp WPA- 5050 which I still use.

    At the time when I lived in Texas did not have enough room for HT and 2 channel system so they were integrated since moving to KS I have a basement, HT on one end and 2 channel on the other end.

    HT is powered by AVR totally.

    SOunds like you are happy with Adcom and should probably stick with what you like. In the end that is all that matters.

    You have a great preamp in the 2L. One of my favorites and getting hard to find anymore.

    I would keep that Adcom unless you need the $375 to use toward something other than that B&K since that deal fell through. I own three Adcoms all in near mint condition all work properly. I have a 555II pushing a pair of 2.3tls very mint 545II pushing a pair of 2bs and a very nice 5503 doing front channel duty on my HT rig.

    I know saying this might Piss of a few but, I had a Parasound 1200 as a loaner to try out, that I thought about buying I had it few days and returned it nothing about it made me want to change out my Adcoms. I don't think they will be leaving anytime soon except for maybe a trip to Big Sky Audio to be gone over.
