The Classe amps are very nice! But if two of those is not enough, four of these are for sale by the owner (me).

I will fly in to help you move 140lbs each amp getting upstairs.

I'm surprised something of that caliber is made in China. I'm not saying anything bad about those amps, I could only dream of owning something like them. Just surprised.

They sound different. Very different. I like in your face of the SS
But the mellow and natural sound of the tubes is so relaxing

You weren't expecting them to sound like tubes....were ya ? Try bi-amping with the tubes up top and see how you like it. Though that makes for some expensive amperage for one set of speakers.

This is the dilemma for some of use old tube guys. Tubes have that wonderful tone that really is hard to beat for mids and highs, but lack some on the lower regions. SS shines down low, but loses some luster in the highs and tone. Very few amps in both camps can get it all right.....and the better your speakers and associated gear, the more these things become apparent.

I've not heard the Dags or newer Boulder amps so I can't comment on their sound. Pass amps are pretty frickin' good, love the McCormacks for budget minded folks. They bring some of that tube tone and musicality with the SS slam in the lower regions most of us crave.

What cables are you using Joey ? At this level, they are going to make a huge difference.

First thing I noted with the Classe M600 was 2 things:

    1. I had a preamp tube noise that I could hear when the system is on standby, something I checked again with the Cary 211FE and could not hear.
    2. The vocal density was a bit different. The 211FE had a bit more sensualness to it, but the M600 was better at definition. Like for instance, on one of Ed Sheeran's songs, first track on his album X... there is a clear "echo or reverb" noted on his voice. Clearly notable on the M600 but not on the Cary 211FE.
    3. I felt like the bass was obviously better on the M600.
    4. I felt like projection forwards was better on the M600.

Joey - those look awesome. Give them some time to settle in and your ears to adjust to the new sound.

....and if you decide they aren't what you thought give me a shout. I would like to give them a run in my system.

I hope so too.. first listen is good. Won't do much better for the price I think.

I am on a self imposed ban from buying anything for a while... I think I have enough gadgets. Gonna start playing around with combinations. Will pop in the BW 802 Diamonds and see how they sound with the combo tube pre and classe m600 monos.

But yep, the mono Classes do not sound like typical SS amps. It's a very palpable presentation that reminds me of some tubes... though that could also be the tube 05 preamp.. lol.

either way, better at resolution than the 211FE...

... but then when I listen to the 211FE I'm like... I... can't... sell these....

Pass amps give you that cross over of tubes and SS all in one package. All the tube goodness, with the heft and precision of SS as well as perfectly conveying the recording space and subtleties of a recording.
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!
