I have a couple of 5" computer/ audio cabinet cooling fans I can sell you. I used them to cool an amp until I had it looked at and modded. Each has an on-off-fan speed switch, ball bearing motor and can be mounted or simply set on a flat surface, and they plug into the wall on standard household current (no transformer). Very quiet too, and rated for a life of something like 30,000 hours. I used them for around 50 - 100 hours.

I paid around like $25 each, but would let them go for $30 + shipping.

I have one of these that I have plugged in to switch on with my amp to cool it down while in the cabinet. I have it pointing out of the cabinet as an exhaust to take the heat away from the cabinet. Works great and they have great customer service. It is also available in a USB version. I have never noticed the noise unless I am right beside the cabinet.

Yep I have one from cooler guys as well, one of the cheap 12$ ones. I don't notice it, but in my jungle of a house it takes a lot of noise for me to notice...

  • +1 on the coolerguys... they have what you need. I would choose one from these guys as they wouldn't sell noisy fans.

Hmm, I will need to mount the fan on the left side of the shelf to blow the air away from me as I am sitting about a foot away so it needs to be pretty quiet..see pic :)fv9w0tx0upax.jpg

I don't think you will find a fan that can't be heard from a foot away. I just use quiet 12v computer fans, powered with a 5v adapter to make them even quieter. Can't hear them from about 4 feet away, and I sit 12 feet from them. But 1 foot I can still hear them easily.

I suggest not allowing air from the fan to come into contact with the tubes. I had a tube crack when doing so.

Keep heat from bothering the amp or keep the heat from bothering you?

  • Fan noises drive me nuts too. You could use a computer muffin fan with a thermal switch so it only runs above a certain temp, but short of using a water cooling system, there's gonna be noise.
