FUSEHOLDER SDA 1

I have a set of SDA1 speakers since new. Never really moved them or touched them in years. The other day when checking the fuses I twisted cap and turned and some of the metal from inside the socket CAME OUT. Now of course can not put cap back on. Any suggestions? Are these replaceable?

Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. Yes, the fuse holder should be a standard chassis mount fuse holder, such as those made by the Little Fuse Co. You'll have to remove the speaker's input cup and take out the holder.

Thank you !! By input cup you mean the square section in the back that has speaker connectors and such.

Bro i finally got around to opening up the speaker. Holy crap there is silicone and this yellow brown glue all over the place. That fuse holder is in there solid!!! Whats the trick to to remove this glue ??

There's probably more than one approach, but I use a pocket knife to score sections of the hot melt glue. Then once I've cut through to the plastic underneath I pry off that section and use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull off that piece. Then score another section and do the same, prying off a fairly small piece then use the pliers to pull it off. Pretty soon you can expose the nut that's holding the fuse holder and take it off. Just use a little patience and it will come off.

Ken's correct but let me add, once through BEFORE you remove anything take a picture so you know exactly how it was. It may seem trivial but there is a lot going on there I have basically the same speakers and mine had a gaggle of wires going everywhere.

I believe the OP has the large crossover board. It's made from very thin particle board.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Yep mine are sda1 signatures. Mine were just covered with hot melt. It is a good habit to get into. You never know sometimes you find something along the way and it is too late then for a "beginning" photo. I know when I redid my xo I found that the glue itself was keeping the connection on one of my fuse holders.
