I have no problem with praying for the police but how about we pray for all the senseless murders that go on everyday in all walks of life.

If the value of life was a stock market chart, we'd see it as a 1929 depression.

This policeman was shot pumping gas for no reason. Evil twisted people out there for sure.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office has announced the charging and arrest of the suspect in the execution of Deputy Darren Goforth. There will be a press conference at 4:30 pm CST.

Nobody should be surprised that things like this keep happening with the way the press keep portraying law enforcement officials. They've repeatedly been making them the bad guys while all too often making the criminals into victims.

My condolences to the cop's family and friends.

Not that crime doesn't deserve punishment but sometimes the cops are the bad guys. All of them? No. But even some of the ones that are don't get punished for what they do. When a cop is caught on camera using an illegal choke move, kills the guy in the process, and the only one to get in trouble is the person that filmed it?! It's going to cause some civil unrest.

Killing a cop pumping his gas? Enjoy life in prison, you deserve it. My condolences to this police officer and his family.

Down here in Texas, the piece of trash who killed Deputy Goforth will get the needle. We used to use the electric chair to execute criminals like this, maybe it's time to go back to it . Sorry for the rant, this hits close to home and I'm pi**ed off.

You're failing to see the real problem. We have an airplane violence problem. Airplane violence is up substantially since the 1990's. We need a brave politician to come to the forefront and outlaw the use of airplanes. No more airplanes... No more airplane violence. Once you eliminate the airplanes, the lunatics causing the violence will see the error of their ways and will no longer seek out ways to commit violence upon others and will live peacefully among us.

The US isn't even in the top 20 countries of murders per capita. Comparing US gun murders against say England's is irrelevant. England statistically has the same murder rate as the US... They just use more knives, bats, screwdrivers,swords,hammers etc. Guns don't kill people... People kill people. Violence is violence. It doesn't matter how you were murdered after you are dead.

It is disgusting how when an agenda driven media ideologically drums a talking point into the heads of the uninformed using irrelevant data, that it becomes a fact... You may believe it but that doesn't make it a fact.

Doctors accidentally or negligently kill 120,000 people per year. That is a fact. therefore we should ban doctors?

There are 22 counties with higher alcohol deaths per 100k people than the 3.7 rate of deaths shown in the chart above. What am I trying to say with this statement? Absolutely nothing. It is disingenuous to cherry pick statistics and present them as somehow a fact of the problem. And it's poor taste to do it on a thread that started with non-political motives.

I live in Wyoming. It was in the news recently that we have the 4th highest incidence of gun deaths in the U.S. ..... We were also recently listed as the 4th safest state in the U.S.

Very good point. I hate when people compare us to other smaller countries. England, as you said, instead of guns is using whatever else is at their disposal. Knives, bats etc. So you know what they are doing now ? Trying to ban knives, even have drop boxes for you to turn your knife in.

It's not the tool doing the murdering, it's the people. Until you address that, nothing changes. We have a problem here about facing up to the real root causes.

The press, higher education, and some elected leaders is doing more harm than good and almost seems to be wanting to stoke the flames of emotional hatred in young minds. ALL lives matter....not just the ones to push agendas.

Let's not forget the race-baiters, and splinter groups who pop up out of the slime, and stoke the flames every time there's and incident. Like Pavlov's Dogs, the Press is there with 24/7 coverage to hype it even more.
What happened was a tragedy. My heart goes out to his family and fellow officers.

The media is most definitely playing a big role in pumping these things up to get ratings. HOWEVER, you would not ever find me strolling around most areas of Baltimore City and it's NOT for fear of running into the media.

It saddens me to hear of incidents such as these, the laws that these officers enforce have little or no meanings to those that break the laws. The majority of them are back on the streets to seek revenge.

My step dad retired from the California Highway Patrol, and is proud to have been one, he gets emotionally upset about incidents such as these especially when the media portrays the officers to be the bad guys, it makes me sick to my stomach.

Every officer should have a camera on him and if attacked by some dumb .as, in a life threatening manor he should be able to protect himself with no percussions, and the media should not be allowed to report it.
