    The above track is from Deerhunter, the Halcyon Digest album. Listening on an ipad doesn't do the sonics of this album justice. Great, great underrated band and stellar album start to finish. Check it out...

    Oh, someone mentioned Prelude earlier. They had a minor hit in the 1970s with an a cappella cover of Neil Young's hauntingly beautiful After the Gold Rush. I've always loved it -- and, with the advent of Youtube, it became accessible again:

    And... Here's another lost one-hit (barely) wonder from the same general era. Apparently this guy, Stu Nunnery, had a pretty significant career in Europe -- but I think in the US he's pretty well forgotten. I think this is a beautiful, and beautifully constructed, song.

    I never noticed until today how much the piano intro to this reminds me a lot of the opening notes of the theme to the old TV sitcom classic Cheers :-P
