Yes, the shelving unit is the limiting factor for both the size of the TV and the placement of stereo equipment. That is what drove me to find a "basement" solution for the power conditioner and mono blocks.
The lower part of the cabinet can't be used for electronics because it is not well enough ventilated, but we need it to store media anyway.
My wife and I are not yet ready to scrap the built-ins, although I'm a lot closer than my wife. Phil; I don't want to overstep my bounds here but I know I'd be doing something,somehow, anything.........whatever it takes to display that monsterous CAT amp. That's an end of line, what dreams are made of type amp for most of us here (myself included) I'm betting and should be proudly displayed front and center with your beautiful VR3 1.2tl's imo. Putting that beauty out of sight...........ughhh.
But I'm also betting you've got your thinking cap on how to display it somehow with the big polks. Best of luck to you -

The cabinetry will likely stay in place till my wife agrees that it would be nice to have a much larger flat panel TV in the family room. Till then, unfortunately, the CAT amp has to displace the Perreaux mono blocks on the rack in the basement!

I was talking to them today about a shipping quote for my Khorns I am selling and asked them if it had been delivered yet. When they told me it just shipped today I was a little surprised. Hopefully they spent a lot of time packing it well.

The woman with whom I spoke said that they decided "to crate it," which gives me some confidence that it is well protected.
When I first discussed the shipping with the man who gave me the quote, he explained how they would go about padding the amp, which also sounded very professional to me.
