LSi25 (Right channel), subwoofer not turning on

Hi,
I moved to this new place back in March, and just was able to hook my theatre up. I noticed that there was no bass coming from he right channel. After I investigated, figured that sub is not turning on. Power button (on the back of the speaker) was set to "Auto-sense". I tried OFF/ON/AUTO-SENSE, I don't hear any relay sound for power supply turning ON/OFF.

What could be the issue. Speakers were transported very carefully, completely protected, and don't have a minute a scratch on them.

If the power is not turning on, is there a fuse or something I could check? Because mid/tweeters are working just fine.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jes

I'm not completely familiar with those speakers, but if there is a fuse it will be on the back panel. If you don't see one then either a connection has come loose or the woofer amp is bad.

I just looked on the back of mine and there are no external fuse resets.

Check to make sure the gold/brass pieces that bridge the speaker terminals (top terminals for mid/upper and lower for subs) are in place. Also make sure the volume knob on the back is turned up to your normal setting.

Sometimes the obvious tends to be what we overlook.

Other than that...could have died on you.
    No excuses!

There is an indicator light for the sub amp power. Does it light? You will see where it lights up in the other speaker.

Also, I replaced the brass bridge in both of my old pair with heavy gauge speaker wire. @Nguyendot might have input, as he owns both pair, now.

I replaced them with audio quest wire terminated with spades. No issues thus far

Thank you all guys for responding.

What's troubling me is the power light comes on, the speaker is working. Just the Subwoofer is NOT. It works fine on auto-sense as well. However, the relay tripping sound that comes on the left speaker (which is a normal behavior for a circuitry to come ON), doesn't come on the right speaker. Therefore, I tried to manually tried the following sequences: OFF-ON, AUTO-ON, AUTO-OFF-ON. No sound.

Dumb question but have you pulled the woofer to make sure the wires are securely attached? Amp side as well?

If you have no relay click it is possible the outputs are faulty. Calls customer service tomorrow for some help

Jumpers were never removed, so they are there. I am thinking, regardless of the jumpers, the system would still turn ON.

In my understanding the mids-and tweeter are not powered, so they produce sound. However the subwoofer is powered and thus need to turn ON to produce any bass.

I had always kept the power switch to 'AUTO' in order to save power and let them turn off when there was no signal ad turn back ON as soon as fed with a signal. So, when I didn't notice any bass coming from there, I was inclined to check the power. Surprisingly, even when I manually, turn ON-OFF, I don't hear any clicks.

Also, remove the jumpers and run an RCA cable to it, see if it powers on with that input.

I couldn't find any solutions for this whole while (since my last post in August), so today i just started flipping the power switch on the back of the right speaker to AUTO<->OFF<->ON while a movie was playing, and voila! It turned on and stayed ON. But I had to do it many times.

Then I pulled the power out of the wall, and plugged it back in, it was again OFF. Had to repeat the "flipping" of the power switch to turn it back on.

    This clearly explains:
1- Fuse is ok (if there is one)
2- Speaker cables are connected properly
3- Subwoofer and internal circuitry is still intact
4- Power switch is functional as well, otherwise it wouldn't let me turn it ON

Somehow, something on the circuitry is not getting turned on automatically.

    any Ideas?

    TIA
    Jes
  • In all likelihood there is a problem with the bass amplifier, either a defective on/off selector or with the auto on/off circuitry. The best approach would be to contact Polk's CS department either at 1-800-377-7655 or via email to polkcs@polkaudio.com
Have the unit's serial number and place and date of purchase handy when you contact them.
