Russman spent quite a bit of time with both of them, and got a lot of good mentoring on his own designs and knowledge.

Gary was definitely passionate about audio and will be missed.
    RIP

I'm very saddened to hear this. I just had Gary do some mods to my preamp and talked on the phone to him at length many times. He seemed to be finally back to his normal self after a period of very very serious heart problems/surgeries. He was very excited about the mods, it was the first time he'd done this particular mod, and Gary finished it promptly and for a very reasonable price. He was also just starting a new business endeavor with Dannie Richie who I also talked to several times recently about my mods and generally about audio. He was a true friend to Gary throughout his health issues. He told me during a conversation several months ago that Gary was one of the true audio geniuses of our times. That's quite a compliment from a man of Dannie's talents. I asked Gary to sign the back panel of my preamp before he shipped it back to me and he seemed genuinely humbled to do so. I never met Gary but I wish I could have as my respect for him grew in many respects in the relatively short time I got to know him. I can't imagine what he had to endure the last several years. He finally seemed to be better and now he's gone. RIP Gary. This is a very sad moment.

Very sad to hear. I've yet to meet a person that didnt like Gary, or his work.

In fact all I ever hear is about how good it was, how awesome as a person he was, etc.

Its sad he is gone, but hopefully his gear and designs will live on.
