The original Polkstand design is simple but effective; I use 'em quite promiscuously with 1970s "monkey coffin" speakers to virtually universally good effect; sometimes with other speakers as well.

BTW: What are "Monkey Coffin speakers"

Never mind a quick google search explains Monkey Coffin.

Monkey coffin? A reference to the shape of many slightly larger bookshelf or a little bigger vintage speakers that are "boxy"-rectangular boxes about big enough for a small monkey-plain Janes? lol I've never cared for the term because so many of them sound so "good"! I'm sure Mark would agree, at least about the Monitor 7s and the Dynacos above?Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Sorry guys no orange on this one. LOL. I did start them though.
Found enough scraps to get 1/2 done. Out to lunch and then to

Starting with Edgar Villchur & Acoustic Research, loudspeaker enclosures went from (mostly) large vented/ported/horn loaded structures featuring some aesthetic and design interest -- to little, sealed rectangular boxes. Just about the right size and shape for... final resting place for smaller primates. Thus the (yes, somewhat derisive) term "monkey coffins".

Of course, nowadays, some loudspeaker enclosures look like something Dr. Seuss might've come up with.

Bill,Mark those stands are so much nicer than the pavers I'm using for my 7s now. I likey those but because of logistics I have to go w/ what I have now. A bit shaky w/ those 7 shots.

Those are original Monitor 7s w/ the out board fuse holder as far as I know them to be. Dated on the caps 1978 w/ serial #s 7-22340 & 7-22528. These are on 16" x 16" x 2'' pavers. Tilt and focus probems are all mine. Still no one ever answered me my question. Did Polk ever make real wood cabinets for their Monitor series cabinets or were they all wrapped ? My pix are a bit compromised. Mark what do you think they are. Mine have the Peerless tweeters which are way better than the silver domes.

I believe Mark is referring to the spider like metal stands that the speakers NEXT to the Polks are on.
