Speaker recommendations new home

Im buying my first home and will be investing in a home theatre system right off the bat. The main living room which is open to most of the house is approx 14x25. We have hardwood floors.

I am waiting to purchase the Yamaha RX-2050 AVR unless anyone advises against. My question is on speaker selection. I like Polk audio especially their cherry finished speakers but I'm not opposed to other brands. I figure I'll start with a 5.1 and then move up from there. I well spend around $1,500 on speakers initially but would like them to be a 10+ year investment.

Suggestions?

Thank you

If your putting them into a family room I suggest thinking about In wall and In ceilings.
In room speakers are awesome for music and movies but take up a lot of room. If you want a clean install and maybe even hide the gear in a closet, basement or another room, in wall in ceiling style speakers positioned correctly yield very good results.
If your system is movie first with some occasional music listening then front 3 In walls will really suit your needs. If music isn't a concern for this system then in Ceilings might be the best fit depending on layout.
