Need Advice: CS350-LS GW score has holes in the cabs

I've been looking for an upgrade to my CS245i but wanted to be sure it matched my RTA 8TL's, which the 245i does a decent job of. A CS350-LS went up on ebay this week from my local GW and I picked it up for $83.
I got it home and benched it and it sounds quite nice and I can't wait to get my 245i swapped out. The grill looks good, the drivers all work, it sounds very sweet to my ears in the garage.
One small problem with the 350 is some strange - I assume - mounting hardware on the back along with extra holes (12 holes in all) that appear to have been drilled all the way through the cabinet.
Q1: Does anyone know anything about these strange balls mounted on the back corners and what they might be for?
Q2: What advice do folks have for filling in the screw holes on the back? I saw a few posts about using Elmers wood wood patch and toothpicks. I have some hardwood floor patch, would that work as well?
THANKS!

Some sort of mounting brackets.
You could simply put the screws back into the holes. Another option would be to use wood epoxy, not wood filler. You can get the non-pro version at Home Depot, comes in a roll. Cut off a piece and use water (sparingly) as a lube as you kneed it between your fingers. Once it's all the same color jam it into the holes. Use a putty knife dipped in water to force it in the holes and smooth the outer surface. That version takes 24 hours to reach a full cure at which point it's as hard as a rock.Political Correctness'.........defined

I would first clean off all the burrs and raised ridges around the screw holes with a utility knife or single edge blade. Vacuum everything to remove and chips or sawdust.
Fill the holes with Loctite Power Grab. Squirt enough in each hole to fill it, then wipe off any excess with a damp sponge or rag. Let it set for 2-4 hours. It will shrink back and dry clear. After it's set, add a little dab to each hole to level the surface. Again wipe off any excess. I've filled many screw holes in this manner where they are not visible.Home Theater/2 Channel:

You can also use JB weld kwik wood. It works pretty good. The other methods as stated in the above comments work exceptional too!

The Loctite Power Grab worked quite well - thanks for the advice!
It seems my quick garage audition didn't reveal a flaw in one of the drivers. It took a few hours of listening for the left-hand mw4850 to exhibit a scratching sound. The speaker sounded fine up until then. Now I'm on a hunt for a replacement driver.Receiver: ONKYO TX-NR929 7.1 AVR 130wpc

eBay is about the only place you'll find salvaged drivers. You can also try Polk Tech Support: 1-800-377-POLK (7655) Option 1. This is not the first time I've heard of this on the CS350-LS. I believe it may be our old nemesis, Magnet Shift. Try rotating the driver 180 degrees in the mean time.Home Theater/2 Channel:
