Any good reason to "upgrade" from SDA CRS+ (1986)?

Using SDA CRS+ since new. Recently replaced one SL2000 tweeter with new old stock. Still sound wonderful to me. Primarily enjoy LP's. Using Dual CS500 turntable (only has tone arm raise/lower issue) and new Teac TN300. Not that it matters: Carver A500X Amp and CT-24 Preamp. Think I would gain anything at all from the newer speaker technology?

Nope. Keep em & enjoy them. You would have to spend alot more to best them. If anything have the old crossovers in them updated & add better tweeters..

FredP Polk has RD0194 tweeters that are drop in replacement that are quite a upgrade on tweeters & @ 102.00 for pair its a steal. I did mine & well worth the price. I have the sl2000 in my Polk Monitor's & i enjoy them also. Welcome to Polk..

You'd be better served by doing the "TL" Mod, and using the RDO-198-1 Tweeters, if you're going to upgrade.Home Theater/2 Channel:

If you decide to do the TL mod as westmassguy suggests with the new tweeters, consider replacing the caps and resistors there is a mountain of info here on CP for these up-grades and thy are well worth the coin when done the right way of course.Yamaha RXA1030, Yamaha CD-S2100, Yamaha AS-2200, Bluesound node 2i

If they still sound wonderful to you....why change ? Couple mods to them will bring them up to snuff. Newer stuff maybe prettier, but like others have said, to get better sound will cost ya.HT SYSTEM-

Yes, sell them to me and upgrade.
You have some great speakers that have and will stand the test of time, never let go.

Sure there is gains to be made in newer speakers but be prepared to spend over 2K to really get there. If you have them well setup then you know what SDA does and I don't know of any speaker that does that for any price. If I was going to start I might begin here http://www.goldenear.com/products/triton-series.
