The 8" passive radiator sw80, I believe. I got a reserve set on ebay that is showing some signs of dry rot.

    There is no fixing that.

Contact the seller and get your money back. Replacing Rubber Surrounds is a Royal PITA. Unless you have the exact thickness, and know the exact type of rubber compound that was used originally, the T/S parameters can change dramatically, rendering the PR useless.

Interesting, I have compared 3 different 8" passive radiators and observed that they are different.

Not sure if I am using the correct vocabulary, The older set has a thicker rubber surround, paper cone with coated fabric on the exterior. The other has a noticeable thinner surround, fabric cone with coated fabric on exterior?! The third looks the same as second but has a paper cone...

They all seem to be original with no kids...

The surrounds and cones will be different between models and production years but should not vary within the same pair of speakers. If replaced it should be with surrounds of simular specs ie flexibility, density on the rubber and movement of the cone. If you use the incorrect one that can alter the sound dramatically. And ruin the speakers
