While you have him... make sure he installs a breaker with some "wiggle" room for additional dedicated lines to your gear one for your amp(s) another for your AV equipment/TV.... and some blanks for "growing" if you know what I mean

Her logic is you effed with it, now it doesn't work, its your fault. Can't say I blame her though. On the plus side I get a shiny new panel for my 20A dedicated :) Oh yeah and the wife comes home and tells me she got a big promotion today which entails a nice increase in pay so...I am glad one of is making good decisions :)

Thanks I will look into that. I dug out my multi meter this morning and I am getting 120v on both legs on the live side of the main 100a breaker, but on the panel side I have power on only the left pole and nothing on the right. Does this mean the main breaker has failed? Or could something be keeping the right pole from resetting? Thoughts?

This is a old wadsworth panel (1970) I am not seeing any replacement breakers for it locally.

100 amp service ????? You need a "heavy-up" and to go to a 200 amp service, IMO. I'd suggest a Cutler Hammer load center & breakers, I don't really trust SquareD anymore. ;)

I agree with that but it's not going to happen today. If we ever decide to get an in ground pool then a 200a will certainly be necessary.

In an older residential area, the wires from the power company transformer to the home may not support a 200 Amp service.

exactly my thought I tried but the power company cost was thousands more than I had.

Yeahup. Upgrading to 200A in my case will require at least a new drop from the pole to the service entrance. $$$$...My new 100A panel and breaker was quoted at $400-$450 installed. Which I thought was very reasonable. Ron the electrician should be here directly to get me going again. Its stupid hot and sticky already this morning :'(

Congrats Jeremy! I thought that price for the new panel etc.. installed was decent too, might have that done when I get a couple of dedicated circuits installed.

Cutler hammer panel and breakers seems to be of a decent quality.

Good to have your power, and AC, back! I lost my AC three years ago during a 9 day span of 100 degree temps. The new unit is bigger with the ability to refrigerate the downstairs.

My loyal Rheem A/C condensing unit which had given me 26 years of service, quit working around the first week of October last year. Compressor had died. Finally was able to pay for and have a new unit installed 2 weeks ago. So glad to not have to deal with Houston heat and humidity anymore, nice to have a brand new unit cooling the house. Glad to hear you're chillin' over there drumminman! ;)
