Sid the Kid From Seller of 1.2TL'S

Be careful what you say...you never know who's watching or listening! To clarify a few things quoted by Sid the Kid regarding SDA SRS 1.2tl's that "Dad" bought:
1) "Dad' was told shouldn't use single amp to play these babies due to damage it could cause.

2) "Dad" put his ear to each tweeter, etc. with covers off to verify all were in working condition.

3)
"Funny thing is, my Dad also said they listened to them much much louder at the sellers house. So who knows?"(UNQUOTE) We had them hooked to a Yamaha RXV3300 plus the Soundcraftsmen. You've got to have enough amp to push these speakers to keep from clipping.

4) We contacted the original owner today about the tweeters, if they had been blown before, as we had NO problem with them. Said he did, blew 2 tweeters twice in the same speaker due to using single amp. Bought Soundcraftsmen, no more problems.

5) Another tribute to the cause was probably playing "country" music! They're used to rock'n roll mostly! Were playing Stevie Ray Vaughan when "Dad" came to call.

One more thing, the Soundcraftsmen amp is resting "up" on its side instead of laying flat??? Don't the words "this side up" mean anything? You don't stand an amp up on it's side when it should be laying flat!!! Duhhhhh!!

I think not having enough patience and common sense is what started the waterfall of failure....coupled with the fact that there may have been an issue, just compounds the problem. A couple of your statements are not exactly true, but it's a non-issue now.

Who gives a **** anymore? I started not caring about that whole transaction, and its 100 related threads, when I read about two blown tweeters in <12 hours.

    SJ,

There are plenty of folks using one amp to power 1.2TL's with no problems. One or two amps doesn't matter, with the exception of a very few amps on the market, all amps can be pushed into clipping and that's were the damage occurs.

    Sid,

Please have your Dad place that amp on it's feet, running on it's side and inside that cabinet is not a good thing. Heat issues are going to cook the poor thing.

The amp runs ice cold man...

It can run for 4 hours and be ice. Seriously...lol

We cant place it on its side because it is to wide for the cabinet and we have no where else to put it.

What Class is that amp, Class D?

You can always put it on the floor outside of the cabinet.

We wanted to make sure we hid the amp, the only reason we put the adcoms outside the cabinet was they torched about anything that held a cd..

Not sure of the class of the amp...

Sid, just wanted to set the record straight. Didn't want other people to think I was tryng to sell something that had damage to it. We appreciated what we had and it rips my heart out to think these wonderful speakers got messed up so easily. Your Dad was a real nice person (including his friend) and don't want any hard feelings with your Dad. Sorry to bring up a "dead" issue but this was my 1st chance after being told you were running your mouth on a forum and I just happened to find the forum!

We plan to repay the community by auctioning off the SL3000TL tweeters on Ebay. One is on there now, have fun! :D

For disclaimer purposes, My Dad is selling the Tweeters. I told him they go for a pretty good amount, they are rare. So he decided to sell them and replace them with Polk replacements.

Using Ebay, to get as much as possible, is in no way shape or form, "repaying the community".

There is something missing here or something seriously wrong with this picture.

    1) Didn’t someone acquire a set of 1.2TL’s, then proceed to torch a couple 3000’s?
We blew two tweeters in the 1.2TL and are on the search for two of the tweeters. SL3000tl I believe they are. Don't ask how we blew them, we're not sure........lol

    2) Didn’t someone else offer replacements at minimal cost?
I have 2 that Russman gave me. They are not perfect, but look pretty good. You can have them if you pay shipping. Email me at Warlocks1@aol.com. Jeff

The way the auction for the 1.2’s ended was suspicious enough. Now we have to accept that the donated 3000’s are being enjoyed while the toasted ones are auctioned off as “good” in order to repay the community?

    Well let's see....
Original Dome is in great condition, sounds great!
If the ones on auction are so "good", why not put them back in the 1.2’s and return the donated pair to sender?

This sounds like the crap politicians feed us while expecting thanks for their generosity and sacrifice.

    Give me a break.

As much as I like to pick on MX:) I know he would never do anything as suggested above. That is just mean. Excited about the new 1.2TL's... yes. Doing underhanded things... NEVER!

While this may be innocent behavior, a little more information could put this whole issue to bed.

    For example:
    1) Where are the toasted 3000's?
    2) Where are the donated 3000's?
    3) What 3000's are on auction?
    4) Who will benefit when the auction ends?
    5) Who will be "repaid" and how?

Perhaps there is a simple explanation.
    Enlighten us please...

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Yall think we are SELLING the *TOASTED* ones?

HOLY EFF! Yall are ALL on CRACK!

Dude, we threw the toasted ones away. My Dad set the price, not me.

We ordered two Polk replacements (FROM POLK AUDIO). My Dad does what he wants with his Tweeters. Not me. I just told yall they are going on EBay.

Jeeez, I figured our price was pretty good. All considering someone on here offered to sell his to us for 100 each...

I cant believe yall would think we did something like this, just eff you all. WTF

We are REPLACING *ALL* of the SL3000TL tweeters WITH POLK AUDIO REPLACEMENTS. We ordered two, and they sound the same to us.

Potential buyers of scarce vintage speakers should have to take some type of competency exam before they are allowed to purchase. Auctioning off those tweeters is the most ridiculous thing I've heard of so far.
    Receiver = Denon AVR-3803
    DVD = Denon DV-2900

Every 3 days, a new SL3000TL will be placed on EBay. The buyer of one, can buy two. We are selling all the working tweeters to buy replacements. We threw the blown ones away.

Someone on this board posted about having good results repairing his tweeters. I wonder if he does it for other people?

    Hey MX,
Read my Snake Oil post in OFF TOPIC. You (your dad) may find it interesting.

The tweeters were blown to unfixed things. One voice coil was totally shot. One dome was melted. One looked fine but had no sound.

Yes my Dad also blew another 1 a week ago which is why he is selling them. He decided to go with the Polk replacements.

Let me clear something up for the people that just DO NOT understand...

    My Dad - 1.2TL

My Dad - 3 Blown Tweeters

My Dad - Selling, 7 working SL3000TL tweeters

My Dad - Owns the 1.2TL

My Dad - WITH ANYTHING INVOLVING THE 1.2TL, IT IS MY DAD, NOT ME

ME - NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FRIGGIN 1.2TL and the PARTS within the 1.2TL, NOR DO I CARE.
