a brief question on the M7s

My vintage '78 7s came w/ Rosewood vinyl wrap. I saw Pumpkinman's light white oak 7s he sold a while back and my question is did Polk make any 7s out of real wood veneers or wrapped all 7s. I already Dynamatted them and the gaskets were all good so mechanical mods are done. I think BH-5 would deaden them to much. Both of the speaker's grills were toast so I ordered a bolt of Mellotone fabric and a set of grill pegs and inserts from Parts Express and this should clean them up a lot. I could not save the Polk logos which is not all that troubling.
I called Polk and they do not have those gray fiber beauty rings at all, for either drivers or passives. I need one for 1 passive and that would complete the work. Purely cosmetic but they should look the same. Any of you dudes know where I could get just one 10'' I think ?

Lew, if I had one I'd send you one. They're available on fleabay. Do a search for 10" Speaker Gasket. Measure the other PR, and get the exact outside and inside diameter, then if not noted in the listing, contact the seller for the exact dimensions.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Does the ring serve any mechanical or sonic purpose?

Not the way Polk mounted them. If the were mounted from the rear, the ring is a gasket that seals the PR to the opening.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Some already know. I ordered a 10" ring off e-bay for $10 w/ free shipping so that's coming. This is a purely cosmetic ring to hide the outer surround and still has the screw cut outs to remove said passive. Also since the grill covers and a few pegs on 1 speaker were toast I ordered a bolt of fabric and a set of h/d pegs from P/E.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
