FS: POLK RT5000 System

For Sale, my Polk RT5000 system in Rosewood veneer laminated. You guys know what this is...the Legendary Polk Reference Theater set. The family and I hate to see it go as these took time to acquire, but I'm moving on.

With a little patience, the system was pieced together and is fully functional. Included in the set:
Mains - RT3000P - Picked up in OH just East of Ft Wayne IN.
Center- CS1000P - Shipped from TX
Surround - F/X/1000 - Picked up in Kalamazoo, MI area
-
Details:
-The large caps in the RT3000p bass amps all have been replaced. Also,
-Some of the caps in the passive crossover in the center channel have been replaced.
-One of the bass driver dust caps was repaired with silicone. This way since I bought them, never had any issues.
- A few of the pegs on the grills have broke off but have been glued and screwed.
- The grill frame on the center channel was cracked so I glued it together. The grill was torn but I sewed it. I was going to replace the grill cloth but It really did not stand out in my room.
- There is some normal wear , and light scratches...see pics.

I'm located in the NW Indiana area and would prefer to sale local. However, I'm up to the task of shipping within the 48 states if one is willing to pay. The best I can figure, they would have to box up like such: Box1 L&R Satellites, Box2 Center, Box3 L Bass mod, Box4 R Bass Mod, Box5 L&R Surrounds...unless one has other ideas?

Looking for $1200 and the fun can be your!

They had a set of SDA like speakers shipped from NV to MI with no issues iirc....

Oh man Johnny I can't blame you.....I've been salivating over their DIY kits...especially the SB Acoustics Xmax.

After the Polks, my plan is to build a shorter curved version of the Statements II http://speakerdesignworks.com/Statement_II_1.html
Deewan over at HTGuide and I've been in contact for some months now and he is my inspiration! He's built them before but sold them and wanted them back again. We both talked about the desire for a shorter version as the original is 60" tall. Plus, the box design was too boring so we were passing curved ideas back and forth. Anyway, he went for it and his build is almost complete. http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php?42607-Statement-II-The-Remix
I plan to copy it and add in my own personal touches....don't know when as bigger things are on the horizon....i hope to be moving in a month or so.

Here is another interesting curved version of the original: http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php?37637-Sharkfin-Statements-(unauthorized)

This one is one of the more amazing builds I've seen. A true craftsman here.

Guys, you won't see another set like this for a long time to come. Original jumpers and sorbothane pads in place. It took me years to piece my set together, and I have much more than $1,200 in them. To get the mains I flew to Charleston, WV, rented a SUV and drove them home to Atlanta. Finally was able to find an 'extra' pair of rosewood RT3000p sats (for 7.1) a couple years ago. Here's the whole shebang in one place, at a great price. The sub amps can be rebuilt by Polk or others for around $150 each. I'm still using the originals, but have a spare stashed away, just in case.

The real advantage is the matched drivers in every speaker. Center, mains, surrounds....they are all the same drivers, so no voicing issues at all.

I remember a review in HT Magazine a few years ago when the reviewer said he only reviewed one set of speakers over the years that he truly wishes he had bought, but didn't....the RT5000 system. Cannot beat the bang for the buck at anywhere near the price.

Someone needs to buy this....it's worth a road trip to pick them up. Oh, and they will fit in a Ford Escape SUV...

Even though these were pieced together it would be a shame to break them up at this point. If I had a buyer for each not a problem...but for now I will try to sell as a set.

    Give these a try maybe:

The good news is that there are tons of music festivals and beach events happening during this time of the year. So if you're currently in hakuna matata mode, there should be plenty of things to keep you occupied. :D

Unfortunately thats a bit in the wrong direction at least for me...... I'm going to Gatlinburg in August, but wont have room with the kid and wife along for the ride..... Otherwise I know there is a bunch of folks going to Carverfest in Bryson City, NC and a couple are from Indiana, but that still puts them 7 hours one way from you.....

you have someone interested in the center - I am keen on the FX1000's.

Had the whole set a while ago, great sounding system, the center is still my all time favourite and better than the SRT center in my opinion. It had some chuffing through the plate amp in the back of it but was able to be resolved with some DIY.

    Cheers
