Better Naners: Next project

I am currently using Sewell Dead Bolts and I want to try some better banana plugs. I like the idea of crimping them and hate having to use set screw connections but I want the flexibiltiy so I can put them on other raw cables if and when I change those out. Which ones do you folks like that are not outrageously expensive?

Sorry, to clarify, are you asking about different "re-usable" banana plugs?I disabled signatures.

Gold on directly on copper.
-
So you all use outrageously expensive plugs? %^)
-
I'm watching this thread, because I'd like to see some suggestions as well. I think someone will come back with a Douglas Connection recommendation for DIY http://douglasconnection.com/
I don't have much experience here, myself, but would like to build some cables at some point.I disabled signatures. -
I have seen some that are inexpensive copper but wont handle much weight so they would end up getting bent
-
Skip, if one were to build, do you know of any good connectors and where to get them?I disabled signatures.

What is a better connection bananas or spades?

Both about the same IMO, a matter of preference.

I peruse dougs selection mostly. I do recommend you stay away from those cheap vampire wire spades and bananas though. PNF used them (part of the reason they were so affordable) and they are absolute crap. They don't secure after a few uses and the spades are brittle. Doug reterminated them with some of those copper spades and I love them.
Which ones did you use, I may do the same with my PNF's ?

I no longer care since I don't know what the hell the other end is made of. Gold on copper, I doubt it.

if you like them try these. They are from a member here at Club Polk and do not collapse like those did for me..

I know that Douglas has good stuff but I can't afford to do all of my speakers with those. It seems pretty important to use good terminals but like I said the binding post material is probably brass so doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

WP30 for biwire speaker ends and WP48XL on amp ends. No wonder I never saw it - that lettering is smaller than it appears on the pics.

I've been using the AudioQuest SureGrip100 BFA plugs and I like them a lot.
They do have set screws, but they hold REALLY well and make an awesome connection.
Direct Gold or Silver over Beryllium Copper and $40 for an 8 pack.
I re-termintated my Signal Ultra's in my 2ch system with the Silver versions (did not want spades anymore). I wired my fathers entire new system with the gold versions.
