    Nice steal!

I'd love to get my ears on a pair someday myself.

Wow, awesome price! Those speakers are serious over-achievers. Comparable quality-wise to LSiMs, but they sound different. I could see why someone would like either one better than the other. Enjoy!

You paid less than $750???? Man, what a deal. By the time I paid for shipping mine were about $1200 and they are worth every penny I paid.

Yeah, I think they'll be "okay" as mains. :D Mine won't be leaving my house (until Skip talks me into the Mini X).

This reminds me of the time i won a pair of 6311's for less than $750 on ebay, about 2 years ago when ushers weren't THIS cool and the seller reneged/refused to sell me the speakers.

I still hate that man till this day....

    Nice job sniping!

    Still waiting...
Yeah, sorry it took so long - had lots of stuff...

Picked them up as planned and without a hitch on Thursday. Super nice guy about my age, also entering the downsizing stage of life. Listened to them for all of 30 seconds to make sure drivers worked. They were hooked up to an AVR, shoe-horned in corners; so it really wouldn't have been helpful to prolong. Cabinets are in very good shape - smudges and light grunge spots that wiped off easily.

Finally got a chance to listen to them yesterday. Plopped them down in the den without installing the bases, maybe 30" off front wall and immediately chuckled at the startlingly real imaging. This was before I even got back to the sofa. Played Jacqui Naylor's "Black Coffee". Bass response extremely fast and detailed on bass intro. Piano keys to die for - very round and organic. Vocals on this song can often seem a bit harsh to me, but here they were pleasantly smooth and very present. I very much like this tweeter and am flat-out amazed at what the woofer and cabinet can do. Imaging is very precise with lots of space in between instruments. Width is very good, often going outside the boxes. Depth is fantastic and 3-dimensional.

Next up was Shelby Lynne's "Just a Little Lovin" where keys and bass are electronicafied. Wow, beautiful low end detail that gets real low without being muddy, boomy, or overwhelming. Remarkable detail from fingers on bass strings. Buttery smooth, articulate vocals without harshness or grain. You can hear every aspect of enunciation. After the phrase, "everything is coming your way", there's a soft tap on a large cymbal that fills the room with chill-inducing, full color, 3-dimensional, in-the-room reality. Lovely.

Next up was Arc Choir's "Walk with Me", Mapleshade's fantastic recording of a gospel vocal group. Excellent space between voices. Incredible dynamics and realism. These folks were singing in my den and it was very, very moving.

Next was (Mapleshade) J Street Jumpers' big band swing album, "Is You Is...". Even with many instruments playing simultaneously, there's fantastic separation and precise clarity that allows you to easily hear individual artists. Organic, dynamic brass. Vocals center and slightly forward of the band. Keys, bass, and guitar well differentiated and realistic. Remarkable three-dimensional band stage. Excellent!! I couldn't help but listen to the whole thing straight through, tapping feet the whole time.

Then tried the usual EW&F, Bill Evans, Steely Dan, George Winston, Elton John, Yo Yo Ma picks along with some Daft Punk, Sallie Ford, Chi-Lites, Ohio Players. Good sound on a wide variety of genres that drew me in and made me want to listen to everything. Can't ask for much more than that. The biggest challenge for speakers in my house is bass performance in the den. It's a terrible room that's very difficult to fill adequately, even for a small listening position. Large (20x30x18), reflective (8x10 glass back wall, 12x12 glass side), only treatments are behind front and rear speakers. SRS 2, SRS 1.2, and Maggie 1.6's, are the only ones to really work there. Until this little mighty-might showed up! Incredibly, it filled the room with tight bass without losing any steam. Very impressive.

This morning I moved the Ushers to the living room rig with very high expectations. They sound phenomenal in the small space. They will likely stay here, displacing the 703's which I absolutely love. Once I decide on final resting place, I'll load the cabinet with some shot.

All in all, a fantastic speaker - excellent clarity and detail, sweet smooth top end, fast detailed low end, and deep three-dimensional soundstage. All but unbeatable value. I'm very happy I finally found these.

    Craig

Thanks @DSkip. Doubt I'll be tempted to make any gear changes for a while. The Rogue-Pass-Usher combo is very sweet. Would like to try a Rogue 99 or @gce 's new RP-5 (probably in the den), but will have to be patient.

Music server/dac may be on the horizon as well, but I'm in no big hurry - both rigs are VERY satisfying to me at the moment. In fact, one reason it took so long to write tasting notes on the Ushers was that I had left my Macbook at the beach and was very reluctant to leave the stereo long enough to write something on my office PC, hehe. Kinda ridiculous, but in a good way :D

Thanks @boston1450 . I'll try to post these crummy phone pics. Sorry, just a front view that doesn't show much of the speaker and a pan of the LR space - I was trying to figure out how to do a pan. That's all I've got with me at beach.

I'm very surprised people are just now discovering the Usher 6 series as these have been out for well over 10 years. In fact they have been discontinued now for probably 4 years or so. I am not sure if they are still making the 6311 though as they continued after they discontinued the series.

The 6371's in the series are a very nice speaker too.

    Glad you are enjoying them.

What a beautiful home and rooms. I'm no designer but I have a little design touch. Its looks like things were carefully selected to match the décor of the room.
Well... since its raining out I can't cut the grass and have some time... so here goes.....

The black Ushers are sexy and we all love the modern high gloss look with the warm wood sides. The white REALLY requires the "right" room to look good. Your room looks just perfect for the white ones. I almost don't like the black ones in your room.....however, that's just my opinion. I hope you don't mind but I GIMP'ed them in your photo.....What do you think?

Seems there are other white ones around. Sure would like to try a set myself.

Thanks, @WLDock . Grandparents' furniture; my mess. Agree on the white looking good. I actually made an ebay offer on those 6381's in Jax, but the seller laughed at me. That room will need some rearranging. Kinda wanted to get the gear decisions made before final placement.

So, I've been painting the beach house for the last several days. Came back into town to mow and go to a concert Wed night. Thursday morning I fire up the Usher rig and...

HOLY CR^P, it sounds amazing!! Guess I just had not had enough time listening to burn the sound-memory into my brain. Wow.

Anyway, I'm flat out LOVING these guys.
