Also, your NHSM (New Hampshire Stabilization Method) is ridiculous!!

The way some folks fail properly to appreciate New Hampshire granite absolutely baffles me! :)

Sorry, I couldn't resist defending my adopted state's most plentiful natural resource.

    Voltz,

The holes in the baffle were cut w/ a router using a jig that used to be available through Parts Express, called a Router Buddy; I like it because it is fully adjustable, unlike the Jasper Jig, which appears to have a wide selection of hole sizes, but if you want one 0.5 mm more or less, you are out of luck.

The bevels on the inside of the small holes for the FF85k were cut with a 45 degree router bit.

    Cheers, Jim

Well this thread's in a rocky place lately...
The "Router Buddy" is not a product I remember -- I wish I had one!
I've actually goth both Jasper jigs but... heh... no plunge router.

    Hi Kevin,

Assuming you are asking about the speakers I pictured above:
The dipole peak of the Alpha 15a (combination of the baffle response & the basic response curve of the Alpha) works with the electrical XO to produce a smooth bass response, See MJK's articles on his web site:
    http://www.quarter-wave.com/

The effective acoustic XO point is about 500 Hz. The FF85k has a second order electrical XO at 500 Hz, while the Alpha 15a has a second order electrical XO at about 170 Hz (IIRC, as I tweeked MJK's design).

Folks who are familiar w/ XOs for typical box speakers may have trouble getting their heads around how the XO on an OB works, as the acoustic XO point can be so different from the electric XO point.

    Cheers, Jim
