Cable is cheap so go for it. Shipping on Monoprice cable is going to be more expensive than the cable itself so unless you need anything else I would suggest Ebay.

    Belkin cable $8 shipped.

Just got the Adcom. It wasn't a wow but it is nice. For $270 I think I could have done worse . The bass is the biggest improvement over the Denon. Soundstage is also improved. It might be a little harsh on the high end but not too bad. Overall I am happy with the purchase. I have only listen to it thru my little Fiio X1 for it's 24 bit capabilities and it sounds great. Black Sabbath Paranoid at 24 96 is just awesome and now more . It's nice to hear it at a nice and loud level. Got to get a new Dac .

Before you make investments into electronics like DAC it sounds (no pun intended) like the most improvements could be made with minimal money on room improvements. Speakers, amp & the room are the most important things.

True but the delta between a cheap source and very expensive source is much less audible. If your listening room has poor acoustics it is fairly pointless to get into the rabbit hole in the first place. Better speakers can improve the sound but the rest not that much (assuming amplification is adequate).

Until you have done everything you can with the room I would not worry about the source or preamp.

True Sami, however many of us are limited to what can be done to any given room with approval from significant others. If the OP feels like he's about done all he can, time to move on to sources and whatever may float his boat in the quest for better sound.

We have many threads too on room treatments if the Op wants to visit them. If not, then we'd be happy to lend some advice on upgrade paths.

Thanks guys for the comments. The Dac is for my headphone setup. I am slowly moving towards getting my computer to feed my home stereo setup also. Yes my room is going to change. I have to get some new furniture and set it up right. This is going to be a work in progress for now. I got to take it a little slow right now just laid out too much cash to change too many things right now ($600 for Mr Speakers Alpha Dogs $365 for HiFiMan HE-400's and EF2A amp $275 for Adcom GFA-555 and $600 for Cavalli Liquid Carbon headphone amp). If I spend too much more the wife will want to take body parts from me ; ) . Right now I am using my Emu 0404 usb as a dac so I need a upgrade. The Cavalli being a balanced amp I am looking for a balanced dac I have in mind a Teac UD-301. Not too out of my price range. I have read nice reviews for it also. Now I got to fix another set of speaker (yes I've been a bad boy). The mids have died on my Infinity Overture 2's. I contacted Harman (The parent company of Infinity) but no response. I bought a crossover on Ebay for a Overture 3 (they look the same but with dual powered woofers) and it worked. The only things that are different are a 1 versus 2 ohm resistor and a 5.6 versus 4.7 mfd cap. I don't think that is the problem with the crossover but I think it is some inductors that look well over heated. I guess I am going to dismantle crossover and read the values of the inductors to find replacements if I don't hear from Infinity. I think I'm going to move them to my rears in the theater setup. They were my mains before and after the Polks. When I get everything working I will be back again asking for suggestions on room treatments. I now have to buy a meter to read the components but they can found cheap. Well Ihave rambled on long enough. Thanks again.

  • I have the LSi15's driven by an Adcom GFA 555 II and I have to say, I enjoy it. I'm sure there's better, and there's most definitely worse, but for what you paid (I paid $300 for mine) I think you've set yourself up for many hours of enjoyment with your LSi's!
