Attenuating component tweeters

So, this is probably a little premature, but I've read that some of the Focal component tweeters run a little harsh. Is this issue best solved by just using EQ or by adding an attenuator at the tweeter? I like the idea of cutting down the highs a bit at the source and then EQing only when necessary.

Much as I hate to use them, L-Pads can come in handy. I use them to set the level I want, then measure the resistance, and install fixed resistors.

Yup, that's the best use of an L-pad as far as I can tell; great troubleshooting/tuning tools.

Of course some of us are just a little too lazy to get out the DMM...

Fortunately, the use of high-end audiophile grade clip leads undoes some of the variable L-pad's damage...
