Considering SDA 2's

I am considering picking up a pair of SDA 2's. I am not sure what model they are but they have the real wood caps top and bottom with the side panels with the grille material. Silver tweeters and the interconnect cable has the 2 different size pins. Here are some photos. One of them is missing the 2 side panels unfortunately. Otherwise they are in okay condition and just need some tlc. Crossovers unknown other than original. All drivers worked when I listened to the speakers on a crappy AVR. Grilles have been cat abused.

What do you want to know?

Those are 2Bs. Are they blade/blade, or pin/blade?Home Theater/2 Channel:

Does blade/small blade make sense?
I am asking what model these might be so I can assess value maybe. They want 300. I said no to that.Citation 1, WOPL 400, Dynaco ST70, Pioneer SA9100, 5580, Marantz 4400

Those are early production 2Bs. Polk used up the remaining 2A cabinets, that's why they're blade/blade. The later 2Bs had pin/blade connectors.Home Theater/2 Channel:

one speaker has the side panels and the other does not. From what I could tell they would not be too difficult to refabricate with the grille material over them.Citation 1, WOPL 400, Dynaco ST70, Pioneer SA9100, 5580, Marantz 4400

Take those silly wheels off & add some spikes. Hopefully they didnt screw into the inside of the cabinet. Even so easy fix...

Actually, those are pretty darn handy!
No doubt.
The original pictures I had did not show the drivers and I was thinking the sticker on back should have the B on the top right so I was unsure.
What do you guys think? $200 max? (Can we talk $ here?)Citation 1, WOPL 400, Dynaco ST70, Pioneer SA9100, 5580, Marantz 4400

If it was me 100-150.00 tops. You can get a very nice-minty pair for 250.00-300.00 with IC cord. All the things you will need to do for those will add up cost wise..

I agree with boston....I know it's hard when they're right there and you don't know when another pair will come up, but I think $200+ might be on the high side, depending on how those side panels could be replaced.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -
What other pair of speakers can you buy for $300.00 that will be better than those? Answer, none.Political Correctness'.........defined

...especially since it's easy to make the blade/blade 2B electrically equivalent to the pin/blade version. A foot of wire and a suitable connector per cabinet and you're set. Potentially about $5 plus labor, although I sure there's a way to do it that can cost a whole lot more.

I'd pay $300 for a good functional stock set of 2B's, all day. $350 mint.
Is music a background thing for you or do you sit down and just listen? What are you into? Rocking out loud as hell or do you enjoy things like soundstage, imaging, hearing stuff all around the room while in the sweet spot?afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.
