This was an interesting project. The 2As are 3rd generation, and have a split Crossover. The Stereo Sections were rebuilt with Sonicaps, Mills Resistors, and new Insulating Binding Posts. The TL Modification was done per the CRS+/2B method.
The Dimensional Section was rebuilt using Sonicaps for the Shunts, and Dayton 5% MP Caps for the Sub-Bass Drive Circuits. The existing Spool Inductors were discarded, and New Erse SuperQs installed in their place. All Caps were secured with 3M VHB Tape, and Nylon Wire Ties. The ONLY time I use Hot Glue, is to seal the back of the Binding Posts. Cardas Quad Eutectic Solder was used exclusively.
To consolidate everything and make it easier to install, New Mounting Boards were fabricated from 1/2" MDF, with 1/4-20 Hurricane Nuts and shorter Hex-Head Cap Screws.
The original Circuit Board, New Sub-Bass Drive Caps and Inductors were all mounted to the new boards. To prevent movement and possible rattling or vibrations, highly compressible foam gasket material was installed on the back side of the boards, near the ends.
To complete the rebuild, a new Interconnect Cable was fabricated from Canare 4S11 "Star Quad", with SpeakON Plugs and Sockets. Matching Speaker Cables were made with the same Canare 4S11, and locking Banana Plugs finished them off.z59kxfeh2oix.png
