Looking at getting a 2011/2012 Acura TSX. Just wondering if all the crap is true about buying at the end of the month, end of day, Tuesday morning, etc? Any advice?

End of the month is quite true, we got offered an extra $500 off for my wifes used car a bit ago if we could pick it up before the end of the month. It unfortunately didn't work for us due to distance, but they gave this option on their own we didn't even have to ask.

This is a bit of a thread derail as it not about buying a used car but the salesmen.

How many have seen the shows "Texas Car Wars" and "Dallas Car Sharks" ? They have done something I didn't think was possible and that is Give Used Car Salesmen A Bad Name. :astonished:

Yup, end of month is very true. Also, if you have a trade, make it look as good as possible. Try and be sure to point out any flaws in the Acura as that is what they are going to do to your trade. Paying cash really doesn't make any difference as most would like you to finance to make money on the back end.

There is usually much more profit to be had in selling used cars, so you have more room to negotiate,

End of the month as suggested is the right time. Quotas need to be meet and they want to carry over the least inventory for the next month. The cars both new and used are on floor plans where interest is charged on inventory.

Excellent choice in vehicle. I know the Fast and Furious rice burners give Honda/Acura a bad rep but they're very good vehicles that will run foooooreeeever. And ever.

I'm sure that you will do Carfax. The other most important thing to do is have them print out a dealer service history report. Just tell them to run the vin# through the service dept. Sometimes you will see repairs on it that won't show on car fax. If they refuse to provide one to you I would walk out and find another car.

Is it certified used ? If so, check the warranty period, should be a good 3 years. Sounds like a lease return.

A lot of the 12's are lease returns. What sucks is that I have to drive into Chicago or the burbs to find one. Not a single one in Rockford. :( Most are pretty low mileage and are certified if I go with the dealer. Certified adds a year and 12,000 miles.

That kinda sucks.....I'm shocked that they only offer one year being certified though. Lexus adds 3 years and up to 100k total vehicle miles.

The Acura dealer in Hoffman estates should have what your looking for....and not such a bad drive for you.

My last 2 cars have been certified Hondas. The warranty is 1 year 12000 miles on everything but the powertrain. The powertrain is 7 years total or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. Therefore if you purchase a car off lease which is usually 3 years old, you have 4 years warranty on the PT or 100,000 miles. Acura being Honda's luxury brand,I would assume the warranty would be the same.

This is what you get certified**** extended factory warranty provides unparalleled peace of mind with any Acura Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle purchase. Every buyer receives a 12-month / 12,000-mile Limited Warranty (extends the new car non-powertrain coverage by 12-month / 12,000 miles-whichever comes first-and starts after new car warranty expires), plus a 7-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty (starts from original date of new car warranty registration), and coverage is honored nationwide at all Acura dealers*****
