SDA 1 my left speaker goes on and off intermittenly

I have a left SDA 1 speaker that shuts itself off intermittenly. Sometimes there is a crackling sound. Most of the time it works. But I never know when it is going to stop working.
Something is going wrong with it. Can anyone tell me what is happening to my speaker?

Also remove the passive and check all the wires inside.
If okay it might be time for a much needed crossover upgrade.

I had one of my SDA 2BTL speakers play at very low volume (compered to full sound on the other speaker) and crackle a little one day months ago. I removed all of the cables (IC, speaker wires) and checked and tightened all of the connections and, voila, problem solved. Give it a try. It is definitely worth a shot and hopefully will be an easy fix for you as well.
  • I have done that, I went so far as to replace the speaker wire.

Bad solder joint on one or both of your binding posts.

Perhaps the poly switch is cutting in/out?
