No sound, What could be wrong with RTi4s?

There is a pair of RTi4's for sale semi local (about 2 hours drive) for sale for $60. Cosmetically perfect, but seller says both speakers don't make any sound when connected to receiver.
He got it in a storage locker he bought so he doesnt know any history about the speakers and selling as is.
I have been looking for a pair of RTi4's to complete my 5.1 and at this price I was willing to take risk. Hopeful thinking: he is not connecting the speakers right.
Forgive my ignorance, but doesnt a blown speaker make some kind of noise? hissing/crackle something?
Since he says there is no sound at all, it makes me think he is not connecting it right. He is not able to/willing to troubleshoot since he got it with the storage locker.

What could possibly be wrong with both speakers not making any sound when connected to a receiver?
Shall I pass on it?

  • Are they fused? Take a small receiver with you to test them. If they don't work, don't buy them.

I was thinking to meet him halfway because its bit of a drive and its not some exotic speakers. That would mean, buying without testing them at all.
Would no sound at all from any speakers mean the coils are toast? At that point, with 2 drivers and 2 tweeters and may be crossovers too, if all are dead, then I'd be buying just the boxes.
