Doing my best to put a lid on this spending - I think the best way to budget is to actually make a budget and stick to it. After this FF, no more audio!

Going cold turkey for 6 months.

Good question. It is being released in April. Speculation on other forums ranges from 'S7' to a Q3 replacement. I think 'S' series since it sure looks like one.

My sister in law is a CPA, she's been doing our taxes for the last ten years. If you guys are looking for a CPA let me know and I can put you in contact with her.
    Sorry, didn't mean to sidetrack.
That money that comes back to us goes into our fund to buy audio gear (for me) and stuff for my wife. If I have to, I'll sell off other hobbies when the funds get to critical levels...

I do not budget. I just recalculate, sometimes many times and most of the time it does not calculate. My discipline prevents me from buying new because it is new. Often times, it is not better.

I hate feeling like the sucker. But badge and branding to some exceeds their reality.

Thanks frank, my CPA is good but there's no way around not having deductions man.

But yeah, regarding the audio budget. I have formally made a budget, the number is somewhat adjustable but should be enough for me to move up the ladder as time goes on. The number is going to have to be completely income that is discretionary and after everything is paid and savings kept at a healthy level and 401k funds at max contribution. It also has to be dynamic so if I have a bad year, the budget can scale down accordingly.

My system has been flipped so many times I can't even count anymore.
With that being said I also sell stuff to get new stuff. I flip my stuff and reuse those funds to buy what I want. I sometimes have to add to it and sometimes I get to put a few pennies in my penny jar to save for the next adventure.
Sometimes when I just gotta have it, I just buy it unless I can't afford it then I save sell and find ways to get there.
I'm not rich so this really works for me. This stuff is way to expensive to just go out and just buy everything every time I want to upgrade. If I was single , then I probably would be able to buy at will.
