DSW550wi on but no sound

I loved the DSW550wi I got a second one to make use of the Sony STR-DN1060 7.2Ch configuration. However, two months or so into this acquisition I have noticed the following issue I need guidance on:
  1. The SW has stopped working i.e the LED does not turn on and I do not hear the sub
  2. It was originally set to Auto and I have also tried the swith on On
  3. The LED at the back is green
  4. Nothing has changed in the way the sub is connected. I have also tried swapping them arund to eliminate a potential cable issue, the older sub works just fine on either connection.
  5. When I switch off the sub using the back switch it takes approx 10sec for the rear green LED to go off and when it does there is a thud sound from the sub

Any ideas?

Sounds like the classic plate amp meltdown. I have no experience with Polk subs, but I had that happen with and Energy sub and that is what it was...

  • Not that this has anything to do with your problem at all but I have the same sub. for like a year I couldn't figure out why I would have to reset it every day because the bass just would go away.

Then one day I realized that the up button on my tv remote control must have use the same signal as the volume down button on the sub. So I tuned the sub in and stuck a piece of tape over the remote sensor on the sub and its been great ever since.
