Polk Newbie with 10's

Hey folks! New to Polk and this board. I spend time over at AK and CSP among others, but thought I could get great insight into these 10's I just picked up here so I joined up.
First, they are in pretty darn good condition with all working parts doing what they do including the original Peerless. Cabs are fine for their age although the usual corner and edge dings here and there but nothing to worry about. Stands included.
With what I have been able to read about these so far it appears I have early versions with paper cone on the PR and no a or b on the serial number and with the funky grille connection.
A few questions:
What amperage should the fuses be? these are 1
How do I determine year of make? Serial numbers are 46901 and 46907
I have looked around a little but is there schematic for these older versions posted somewhere you can point me to? Maybe a good thread detailing restoration steps?
All I have done so far has cleaned the exteriors up a bit. Dusted the baffle and drivers. Treated the exterior veneer to get some of the intended color back.
Oh, and I hooked them up too. They sound very nice in my 12x12 lounge room connected to a substantial amp. They seem to have appropriate bass depending on the source. The Peerless are smooth when given something smooth to convey (hi-hat sounded correct). Of course I don't know if there is more to unveil with a recap but I am sure you guys think there probably is just based on their age. I think I am the 3rd owner. You can see the last owner had to replace one of the binding posts and I will eventually re-do that.
Looking forward to learning more about Polk and all they have offered over time.

Is this the correct Schematic?

That should be the right schematic. I have 10a's I bought in 1979 that have the cardboard serial number catd stapled to the back of mine. Yours are earlier than mine. They will definitely improve with a crossover rebuild. I had mine rebuilt a year or so ago and they should be good for another 20 years or so. I am sure other people will chime in .

Welcome to Polk. Yes that fuse is correct. 1 fast blow fuse. Sweet speakers. I have had the 10's & they had the sl-1000's great seakers esp on stands & then i picked up a pair of 11's (tad bit taller&directional) with the peerless tweeters like yours & unloaded the 10's. You can clean the drivers with Original Windex (no off brand/additives) which i was advised here to use. Welcome Again. Hope you enjoy your new to you speakers. Oh on a different note. I see vinyl in background i also have the sl1300. Nice table..

Yeah boston, I recently got back into vinyl and picked up a 1300 from a vietnam vet that had it tucked away at his moms house for the last 20 plus years. it has a wonderful Pickering XUV cart on it so I put a Jico Shibata stylus on it. Sounds great. Need to build up the vinyl collection.
I have either the tube system or the higher powered solid state gear so it will be fun testing these 10's with each.
Thanks for the feedback thus far everybody.Citation 1, WOPL 400, Dynaco ST70, Pioneer SA9100, 5580, Marantz 4400

Has anybody ever seen a pair of these or others in the series with the vinyl replaced with wood veneer? Seem like they would be worthy of the effort if the vinyl was beat up.Citation 1, WOPL 400, Dynaco ST70, Pioneer SA9100, 5580, Marantz 4400

Yes, it's been done. I think there were threads with photos on the older incarnation of the Polk forums (they might have been resurrected, but they may have been lost); I know there're some at Audiokarma.
here's one, e.g. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=511025&page=2
let's see if I can hotlink a photo from that thread...
This thread has some info on removing the vinyl veneer, etc.

Thank you Sir. I don't "Yammer", I try and educate with the remaining brain cells I have left
You'll note, I did NOT remove the existing wood grained vinyl. If the vinyl is intact, not loose, lifted, or raised due to moisture, you can go right over it. The PSA back veneers will adhere perfectly. The cabinets must be cleaned of all old wax and dirt, lightly sanded with #320 or #400 grit, then a final vacuum, and wipe down with denatured alcohol.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Thanks, that's some good info right there. I have a pristine (seriously, right-out-of-the-box condition) pair of Monitor 10Bs that I think would be great to have veneered one day. I'd eff it up myself, but if someone else could do it without having to remove the vinyl first, they could do it a lot cheaper for me. I would really hate to see this pair - my first Polks! - eff'd up!
