New Member with RTA-11t pair, SDA-CRS+ pair, (4) Monitor 4 speakers

Greetings, I am a new member.
I purchased (in 2014) the following; RTA-11t pair, SDA-CRS+ pair, (4) Monitor 4 speakers.
I discovered that I have 2 blown MW-6510s in the RTA-11t towers and I have one blown MW-6510 in a SDA-CRS+.
I'm looking forward to adding to discussions and have been lurking for a while prior to posting anything.
thanks for all the great content.

Welcome to CP! Nice starter collection you have going there :p

Stogie's advice is spot on - new 6510's are $48 + shipping if you tell them you're a member of CP.

Be careful though, you're standing on the edge peering down into the rabbit hole. And it can be very deep my friend.

  • away for a while LOL.....
To replace the burnt drivers, I called Polk and ordered replacement 6510.
Now that I have a complete working set of speakers RTA-11t pair, SDA-CRS+ pair. I am wondering which speakers I should use to make up a frontal assault of side center side for the front of my theater room. Seems like I would use CRS+ on sides and an RTA-11t on its side as the center..... suggestions???
  • I just bought my first Polk speakers recently and have a similar set up. My fist purchase was a pair of RTA 8T's for $150. This weekend I picked up a pair of RTA 11T's for $100. The guy I bought the 11ts from has 4 Monitor 4's he said I could get for $120.

    I'm driving all this with an Onkyo NR-626. It's a 7.2 rated for 115w @ 6 ohms.

How am I doing on value as far as what I spent and are the monitor 4s worth $120?

I have noticed some tweeter distortion in high frequencies at loud volumes. Also, I'm pretty sure the 8Ts clipped watching a movie when I was running in stereo. The same distortion is present in the new 11ts as well.

Does that mean the NR-626 is under powered?

Is there a way to use the 8Ts or a pair of the monitor 4s as the center channel?

Your AVR cannot power all those speakers
