Looking at the specs it's not a drop in for the 6510 and really off the mark for the 6511. No wonder he's selling them.

Here is his response:


The silverflute W17RC38-08 were purchased from Madisound.com they were recommended to me by Helen Yarbor whom at the time worked for Polk Audio (now retired) for a direct replacement for the MW6509 or MW6510 which Polk did not produce anymore. The silverflute is a wool cone 6.5" mid woofer with a rubber surround and is rated at 4ohm. They are still sold so you will be able to find any further information via the web. I have listened to Polk SDA's for years and felt the lower bass was always a bit muddy the Silverflute helped clean that up some and has performed flawless since installation. The only other thing I have done to these speakers was replace the left channel female interconnect plug which had cracked and allowed the cable to be loosely connected. Oh sorry the adjustable feet on the bottom were replaced as well, I do have the isolation spikes someplace around the shop. The interconnect cable on this pair is blade/blade with a large and small blade on each male end of the cable. Any other questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for the interest

Somebody from engineering must have told Helen about them, or this guy completely fabricated that story... The only thing I can hear Helen say is "you might give Madisound a try". but I doubt she gave the guy model numbers... The model number he specifies is an 8ohm driver.

6509 & 6510s are 8 ohm drivers. Sounds like a fairy tale

Ah, his are blade/blade. Ok, according to my info they use all 6509's. Even then, those Flutes are still not drop in replacements.

Don't let price fool you. I have not heard the 6.5" but I did hear the 8" in a speaker and also made a project with the them. They are nice and sound real good. But I agree, they are not the same specs as the original so not sure how they would sound.
