Blu Ray Players...Spotify

Are there any Blu Ray players that can stream Spotify? Or am I looking at getting a SONOS and a blu ray player?

Not that I am aware of. However the Amazon fire tv does a fantastic job streaming spotify. It has a free app called spotify connect that allows you to send the spotify stream directly to it while using your smartphone or tablet as the controller. This makes it much easier to navigate the catalog and use all spotify functions such as radio and search easily. I purchased the fire tv primarily for this function. It sounds as good as spotify can at the moment and there is a rumor that spotify will be going lossless in the near future. Oh yeah with the app installed it runs in the background of the fire tv so you never have to turn the tv on to use it. Just click the connect option on the smartphone app and the music starts playing through the fire tv.

You can download Spotify on your computer and stream it to any accepting wi-fi device I would think.

Roku stick is also a good alternative if that suits you. Is there a reason you want to use a BRP as your streaming device ?

Spotify connect capabilities isn't yet available on the pc software. You can connect to and play on the pc from the mobile but not the other way around. You can use third party software such as "stream what you here" (free) to send all of the pc's audio over DLNA, as a work around though. It works very well too.

The fire tv (not stick) has an hdmi and optical out that can both be used simultaneously. If that helps. You could run to your dac, assuming it has an optical input and is 48hz compatible ...I think they all are. I only mention this because the fire tv outputs at 48 instead of the typical 44hz.

The system in my signature is in the living room with the TV and I currently don't have a BR player, but I would like to add one. I would also like the ability to stream Spotify to that system. Thought maybe I could get em both done with the same piece.

Ahh, thank you. I was thinking it was only a stick, but now I see the box.

I think the only BDP's that handle spotify are LG players at the moment.
