Al-1 Interconnect Compatibility

Is it a fact that the Al-1 or Dreadnaughts can only be used with speakers that were equipped with the Pin/Blade configuration and NOT those that have Blade/Blade?

You have to think Generation along with the type of connector. The 1st through 3rd generation SDAs cannot use the Dreadnaught, 4th and 5th can.
Early 2Bs for example, which are 4th generation, had blade/blade interconnects. Polk frequently used up leftover parts from previous generations. It's always best to examine the crossover. Except for the SRS, all 1st through 3rd generation SDAs had split crossovers. 4th and 5th generation had a single board.

The particular speaker someone on thecarversite was asking about is the SRS 2.

Why is it that when discussing the SRS 2, nobody will differentiate between the early (similar to SDA 1B, 3rd gen) version and the late (similar to SDA 1C, 4th gen) version.

Early version is not compatible with AI-1, later version is.

Did the earlier version have Blade/Blade and later Pin/Blade?

Yup, just like the 1B or the 1C, respectively.

Thank you for this info. I was thinking about a Dreadnaught for a pair of recently acquired original SDA SRS speakers. I guess I will need to figure out something else.
