A word of caution, mastiffs like to swallow stuff , bras-socks-chew toys, etc. Please monitor what she has access to and keep an accurate inventory so you'll know if something goes missing. Our vet has opened up one particular Mastiff THREE TIMES to remove foreign objects from the gut. Just sayin'............. Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer" but, forewarned is forearmed.

Gdb, that's a good point. I keep 2-3 chewies out, and so far she's only bothered with those. I don't really have clothes or anything in the floor so I should be OK, but that is worth watching for. And HAH! That's what I thought I was gonna come home to my first day back to work Ken. Thankfully she was asleep instead....

Much appreciated man! I had a friend who runs a local rescue stop by the other night. She spent about 10 minutes with her, and basically said "she's still learning to trust you, but she definitely doesn't have separation anxiety at a level you need to worry about."

She hasn't chewed a single thing she's not supposed to, and her being asleep on the couch when I come home apparently indicates a level of comfort that is above and beyond a dog with separation anxiety.

Buddy of mine is a professional photographer, and traded me free pictures of her for a ride to his GF's house in the snow this last weekend, haha. So there should be some awesome snow pics coming soon.

The bonding between you two will be great you now have a best friend forever. I hope you both like hanging out together, cool for what you did. We have 5 dogs a couple of rescues they really appreciate that second chance you did good.

Thanks gents! She's settling in so well. Very comfortable with her surroundings now, and I think she's finally getting that "he always comes home", so she has zero separation anxiety issues at this point.

She's pretty smart too. She knows that the neighbors are who they are, so she never barks at them; only the people walking past the back of our backyard. Working on hand commands now. I'd like to be able to tell her to sit, stay etc without speaking, but it's a looooong process. Some days she gets it, and others.......she's in total doof mode (which is too cute to be mad at.)
