Well, that is a pretty old model. You will likely have better luck installing an aftermarket BASH amp or something similar that will fit from Parts Express or similar, or removing the amp altogether. plug up the hole with some MDF and speaker terminals, and run an external amp.

Not worth it in my opinion. You can buy those subs all day on the used market for under a hundred bucks. Heck, I've seen used 505's go for around 100.

Hi Inspector 24...I called them[polk] a long time ago and they couldn't help me.I also e-mailed triad speakers which are the makers of the circuit board and they never answered me back.
I think triad is my best option and I'm going to send them another e-mail.

  • Not a bad plan. I had a PSW300 at one time, it was a very smooth sub...not really punchy or terribly musical, but filled int he lower regions good enough to compliment small speakers.

    Then I upgraded.

A PSW650 will be closest to what you have now in character IMHO, PSW505's are punchy, but not especially deep or musical...kinda sluggish. Same for the 404, but not as much output or depth.

Honestly I'd look outside of the polk line, depending on your budget look at HSU Research.
