So that means that 1895 was the second hottest year on record, right ? You don't see a problem with that ?

I see a problem with your assumption. All it means is that 1895 was when record keeping was started. It could be the coldest year on record, but is probably somewhere in the middle.

Through it's history, the Earth has been MUCH hotter, and MUCH colder than the record will ever show. At least twice in it's history, the earth has been completely covered in ice, and many times, the poles have been completely ice free. And all of this happened before mankind was even a thought.

Mankind has been only smart enough in the past couple hundred years or so to record and observe these phenomena, so to assume that in such a short period of time that we somehow fully understand the way our planet behaves as a sole entity or how it interacts within our solar system is absurd. Even a slight shift in the tilt 1/100th of a degree of our axis, or a large solar flare can have a dramatic effect on our climate. The Earthquakes in Japan and Indonesia both resulted in an ever so slight axis shift, and slowed our rotation by measurable degrees.

We have yet to get a clue.

My Boxster never touches those salty roads and there was that little accident I had last year. As it is I went to start it and the battery is dead and its a new one I just put in after the other died after last years frozen winter.

Actually John, that's a good point. Since everyone wants to claim the high ground using science, please do so. What happens when the earths rotation slows ? How does the planet maintain it's magnetic field and why is it even important ? Answer those questions first, with science, then connect the dots.

I will be glad when I move to the Eastern Shore in a few years. Hopefully, it will still be getting cold. I am sitting here in Silicon Valley burning up from the heat generated by my Pass amps. I thought these would be great in the winter, but I feel like turning on the AC. The thermostat says it is 77 in the hall, and the thermometer on the rack says 83. If I open the windows I suspect my neighbors will call the police. :)

No thanks. I have been burnt once by stereo warming. :)

I love the irony of having to use the AC in the winter.

You guys $(%*#)((*& me off! I just went through 200+ gallons of heating oil in three weeks! And even at $2.45 or so a gallon that's still like paying RENT on a house I own ($650+ a month?)! RIGHT!
God I hate OIL and having to use it to heat! When I first moved up here my total heating bill for the year was $1425 and that was only 14-15 years ago? And that includes heating water all year long. Damn, I'm cheap!

Had to get Chico the Wifes Chihuahua to help find it. Max the stationery Rotweiler is the one responsible for the yellow snow. Yep 27 is the warmest its been in a week.
