Oh geez....it got to 12 degrees Celcius up here in sunny Abbotsford BC today...(DUCKS)

    Sounds like SPRING to me. We're hitting 5 F or -15 C

And had -14 F last night or -25.5 C. Are you sure you live in Cannuck land?

Then again, that Northwest Coast stuff has never made any sense over here on the other side. It's an UNREAL weather pattern. Far too warm for its latitude!

Didn't get as cold yesterday morning here in Almost Nowhere*, NH. The weather thingy said it was -11.4 degrees F outside.

It was amusing to watch the turkeys slipping and sliding on icy patches as they trouped (or is that trooped?) across the tundra out back...

This morning's much warmer (15 degrees F) but it's windy and altogether nastier-feeling outside. Turkeys are still slipping...

    * We're not nowhere, but you can see it from here.

I don't wonder at all. If it wasn't for family, I would have left MN years ago. 6-7 months of garbage. We get 3 months of just "ok" and 2 months of nice!

Driving home last night took 2 hours to drive 20 miles. I could have skated on the highway all the way home. It's too cold for sand or salt, so they don't even bother until it warms up (above 0).

    ish.

I hear ya man, Chicago is no different. 3 months, maybe 4 of nice weather. Heck, this last year our last day of snowfall was May15th, first day was around Dec. 15th. My pond plants just start growing before that cold autumn wind starts blowing. Even the fish are saying..."WTF man ? "

I'm almost never on a bike when October rolls in. It's not that's it's too cold then, it's just that whoever the GOD of WIND is decides that even 30 or 40 degrees will feel like 15-25 degrees. Damn, I hate cold wind in my face!

No classes today boys. So I slept in, made a nice three egg, ham and cheese omelet and some toast, full pot of hot coffee. Read the newspaper, watched CNN covering that MESS/TRAGEDY in France. Now we can get killed for drawing "cartoons"! Excuse my forwardness here. But I have always been amazed that religious types feel the necessity to attack what they consider defamation of their gods and prophets. I guess their GOD is just plain impotent, can't defend his own "honor"! And so has to rely on human "refuse" to defend him and...? Enough said.

So up in the 70's today... it went down to like 53 last nite but didn't have to turn the heat on yet!!!! Have to deal with 70's for 1 more day then back to the mid 80's... Actually had to wear jeans yesterday for the first time since I got here in December. We could use a little rain as it is very dry here.

Today's paper had an article showing 2014 was the warmest year on record for California. It also mentioned that soon data will be released showing 2014 was the warmest year on record for the planet.

Interestingly, it mentioned that the condition (persistent high pressure ridge on West coast) is the cause of the cold weather in the mid-west and East coast. Also, this is the only part of the world experiencing this cold phenomena. Anchorage Alaska did not have a single day below 0 in 2014. The first time in 101 years of record keeping. 2014 was also the hottest year since 1895 for Arizona.

I keep forgetting that you're all referring to motorcycles. I'm strictly a "human powered" guy! And I don't ride under that temp either. But mostly because it's ALWAYS windy in Maine. ALWAYS in the FALL. You'd think Aeolus was trying to blow the state out to sea! lol

So that means that 1895 was the second hottest year on record, right ? You don't see a problem with that ?

For the U.S. as a whole though, a different story.

I see a problem with your assumption. All it means is that 1895 was when record keeping was started. It could be the coldest year on record, but is probably somewhere in the middle.

Ha, PFB I've been experiencing the same thing the last week, I don't think the normal temp has been above zero in days and its pretty much been -30 to -45 below wind chill for a week now day and night. You forget how bone chilling cold that is. Last winter was worse with those frickn polar vortexes one after another and -50 wind chill for days on end. And tomorrow is supposed to start a slow warming trend ....
