Got an email today at work regarding an upgrade of the LSi series. Polk will be making cosmetic changes only according to the email. Instead of the gloss black laminate, they will go with a painted piano black to eliminate seams and edges. The wood veneer will apparently be upgraded. Colors will remain ebony and cherry. Ebony will be the same, but the cherry will be different. Supposed to be a lot better, but I haven't seen any pictures yet. Model numbers will be the same.

Another outcome of their factory relocation to the far east no doubt.

    Si...

One of the things Stu spoke of at TX PF II was the flexibility in manufacturing, and thus design, he's gained in moving out of Mexico.

    boo.

cosmetic update means it will be even longer before a component overhaul.

What is the time frame between the release of the original LS series and the LSi series?

I think it sucks tail that so much of our american industries feel the need to have to move out into other countries for the manufacture of their product lines. And we wonder why the damn jobless rate is so friggin high, its no wonder cc's about to lose ****.

One of my co-workers recently ordered a Polk LSi package through our employee purchase program and he got them today. The LSiC is from the new batch. The finish looks really good. Not having the seams and edges seemed like a small thing to me, but I was impressed with the new look. He also got a PSW505 and the finish on it matches the black from the new RTi's instead of the washed-out brownish black. It would be cool if they offered it in the cherry RTi finish too!

Good ! That should mean Polk are out of stock of the old Lsi's and are soon to send out the new ones !

My company is basically out of all the LSi's except for a couple pairs of 7's and 9's. The new models are tentatively scheduled to come in 2-4 weeks. PSW650's are also gone too, so hopefully the long awaited LSiW's debut will be soon. It's not in our computer system at this time. With the PSW650 going away, it also would make sense for the RM7600 (and probably RM7200) to be replaced as well.

The new LSi7's, 9's, 15's, and 25's arrived in limited quantities at our distribution center yesterday. Hopefully I will be able to see them around the middle of next week. We only got one pair of LSi15's in cherry in, so I am crossing my fingers that they come to my store.

    Hi,

That really sounds interesting. I wonder how they will look. I personally love the looks of mine and like the cherry and piano black. I like them so much that when we were remodeling the family room and I was getting new hardwood floors, I chose a really nice red oak hardwood that matches the wood color of my LSI-15's exactly. When the floor was installed my husband said "What the heck is this, the hardwood floor just happens to match your speakers!" Ha ha! The lengths I will go to!!! But I've got to say it looks really nice!!

Looks like my store will be getting the cherry LSi15's tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm off tomorrow but if we get them in I might have to swing by to see them.

I take it that Polk moved their manufacturing over the other side of the pacific? Maybe this is one reason they can't get their replacement drivers in lately. The 6502's I've been waiting for for almost two months now are supposed to be in Friday but have to be worked over for quality control to make sure they're within specs. Sure hope they are.............
