Speaker cables......what do you think?

What do you guys think about those DIY speaker cables, made of 16AWG, multi-twisted pairs in a fabric sleeve and with those "Nakamichi" banana plugs?
Are they any better than the 12AWG speaker cable you can buy at Monoprice for example?

I've never heard such cable, probably will never happen, but I doubt the sound quality is 100 time better than a regular cable
For me, it seems to be some "audiophile elitism".....no offense to anyone though

I have been looking into AntiCables by Paul Speltz. Relatively affordable compared to a lot of options out there and seem to get outstanding reviews. I have also talked to him about a custom inter-connect for my SDA's and he will make one at $6 / foot. Also offers a 30 day money back guarantee. Has anyone tried these cables and can comment? www.anticables.com

Look at his custom cables your looking at the pre made ones.
He makes them custom lengthA and uses the connectors your choose. Much cheaper than what your looking at.

Lack of understanding due to ignorance is ok. Judging based off ignorance is not. I've had speaker cables in my rig ranging from a few bucks to $3k. They all do things differently. For what it's worth, I kept the cables that sounded best with my rig, and it just so happens you can get them for under $100 if you're lucky.
That's like saying if someone drives an Infiniti they must have some driving elitism.
It was just an "honest" question: Does a 3k cable sound 30 times better than a S100 cable?
I know it's about ear and personal preferences, but......At some point, does it make sense?
I've read a review about music from PC, from the basic codec on the motherboard up to an expensive external DAC: ratio was 1,000. And according to the review, the listening test was very tight.....

WTF are you talking about?

Doug has quality custom cables starting under $60. But way to immediately go from insulting to ignorant in 2 posts.

Another speaker cable thread, I wonder how long this one will last before it degrades in to a my cables are better than yours.(shaking head)

Insulting? I've read my post again, I don't believe it was insulting in anyway...
I was looking at this on the website:

Ignorant? maybe, this is why I'm asking on this forum.....Does a ratio of 1,000 for speaker cables makes sense. I realize it seems to be a sensitive topic, but again, just an honest question
I'm an engineer myself, and I do understand a price difference of 3, 4 or 5 for an AVR for example.....but I'm skeptical for speaker cables and a so huge difference

No offense taken, If you look through most of the cable thread here you'll see that it doesn't take long before they degrade into a flaming/name calling thread and get locked. Just saying.
And for the record I use 12 Gauge Blue Jean cables because that's what I can afford and there local. They also will make bare or terminated custom cables.“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” ~ Mark Twain -

Does a 3k cable sound 30 times better than a S100 cable?
It might and it might not. Regardless, that's no way to judge anything audio related.
Try to buy cables that on the same level of the gear in your rig or whatever fits your budget, but make no mistake, cables are an integral part of any rig.
Say you've got $10k invested in your rig, which is very easy to do. You're going to use $100.00 speaker cables? Really!?!Political Correctness'.........defined

Dude the links show other cables and customs hahaha (not being a d!k).
Speakers and other components should give you an indication for your budget on cables.
A speaker system that costs 3-4kUSD total does not warrant 4k plus in cables imho, just buy the best cable and plugs within your budget, keep it from oxydising. Enjoy!
In terms of diy versus whats available in your budget, how good are you at making cables?
The guys provided some good links, easier to just purchase maybe? (Obviously not the cables that require you to sell your second kindney aswel.)

Its always good to have different views on a topic and thats why its an open forum.
In the end of it all the op needs to process the information and act accordingly.
i gather some may come off as the big bad wolf but you really cant see the tone through text.
Chill bro, let us know what you think bout the offerings on the site and maybe give us more information on your DIY options? (Type of cable etc..)
