Thank you for the kind words. I'm actually in the market for another BDP since I sold the Oppo 105 as well. But I need this one to be silver and a little bit budget. If they made a silver face replacement for the 83 that is probably what I'd go with because it is a great unit.

I did see your WTB ad for a silver face BDP a while back. Didn't know you were still looking. I figured with the popularity of vintage silver receivers, they might start making more new units available in silver... Anyway, best of luck!

I could probably sell this stuff quicker on other sites, but I've bought most of my gear here, and would rather sell it here.

I too have bought some of my gear here. The LSIC from Mantis, 7's from Dokousai and now my FIRST amp from you. Can't wait to hook it up. :D

    Thanks,
    Ken

This was my first amp as well. That's why it's so hard to let go. Let me tell you...you are going to love this thing. Treat her well. Shipping tomorrow.

Eh, you'll get over it bro. There are some statement pieces that you might regret, but the b&k is common enough that there should always be one available. My statement pieces are my monoblocks and I don't know that I could sell them because there is zero doubt I'd regret it. Similar products on the used market still go for $4-5k.

Yup, its all good. I've got a contact that will eventually custom make me a tube amp (or a set of monoblocks) for my stuff. I'm ok with the Parasound.

Congrats Paul... and right around christmas! What you gonna buy yourself?

Unfortunately, this place is drying up. I'm a flipper and it's killing me that it's so hard to sell and buy anymore. I loved the comfort. Hopefully we get some folks back. I'm not giving up yet. :)

  • Thanks Paul.

Been wanting an amp (b&k) to add to my setup for a while now. Since this is my first amp, I can't wait to get it hooked up. Rest assured she will be taken care of.

Ordered ic's from Doug and hoping both arrive before Christmas.
  • She has arrived. Looks beautiful. Too bad my ic's where delayed and might be here Friday.

Nice packing Paul. Great seller. I want to say thanks but I think this is just the beginning of more purchases.

    Thank you Paul.

As a FYI, there ARE still parts/schematics/manuals available for B&K amplifiers through ATI.

I've recently been in contact with them and used them to get some schematics and parts for my 500.2 so I know for a fact they are still available.

This amp is AWESOME, and if I had any thoughts about going 7.1 at some point, I'd snag this in a heartbeat.

On top of that Pauls a GREAT guy, so buy with confidence.

I talked to Jeff yesterday and although, he was very prompt in sending me the B&K schematics he told me as for parts "to look at them last".

Amp is in the shop for diagnosis and not sure what will be needed to fix at this time.

nevermind....just saw the original thread. Did you ever pop the top? I have had a few B&K's. On one I crossed connections / grounded it during hook up. I blew one of the fuses (each channel on mine had 2 fuses). I blew one on a couple of the channels and it would still produce muffled sound with only one fuse working. Just trying to see if when you crossed things up maybe you blew one of the fuses. If so, its an easy and inexpensive fix. Might be something you check out....

Gotcha. Jeff gave me the name of a company to get parts from, I know they likely dont have much, but whoever he told me to contact had the right stuff.

The only tops I pop come on brown bottles. :) But to answer your question, I did not because I would not know what to due if I did. The issue was channel 2 output 70-80% less volume than channel 1. Also, when the amp was turned on a hissing sound emitted from channel 2 and then faded to silence in 1-2 seconds or less. As for the cabling snafu crossed was probably the wrong term. The preouts were connected properly but I had the right speaker connected to channel 2 (left PO)and the left speaker to channel 1(right PO). Could this have blown a fuse? I hope that's all it is. All equipment was and is unplugged when I do any cabling.
