I am about to go pick up a pair that has bad tweets. Ive heard about Sl2000 and RDO 198's. Any other options that would work better? I'm going to be running them with a Carver 772 receiver.

The 15TLs come stock with SL3000s. The new tweeter to replace them is the RDO 198 and can be had from Polk Customer Service."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

You'll not get what those speakers are capable of with a receiver.Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

Well it will be hard for you to compare where those SL3000's are gone. But the RDO198's sound alot better than the stock ones. Just changed over mine & big difference. Worth the $$$ enjoy your new speakers & welcome to Club Polk..

Appreciate all the advice. Polk is out of the RDO198's now but I will have an order in with them as soon as they are.

Listening to Kansas with the RDO198's & wow how sweet

Nice set up Boston. What amp and how much power are you running to your TL's? Once I get my RDO198' I will be running them with a Carver 772 Reciever. I keep hearing I don't want to run those off a receiver but its a 150 watts/ch of old school power. What do you think? I have that Carver running a set of Timeframe 700's now and they are begging for mercy.

I tried the 15tl's on Adcom 555 & it didnt sound good at all. Listened to it for 2-3weeks. Then i switched over to the Yamaha cr1000. It is rated at 70wpc & does a very fine job power wise & sounds perfect..

I picked up this set of RTA 15TL and one of the tweets is bad. I see that prior comments say that the RDO198 is the replacement to the original SL3000. Who has heard both? Opinions please?
I think my Dynaco MKIII are plenty of power for these and hope its only the tweeter. I plan on replacing both obviously. Are there any Xover tweeks/mods?

The SL3000 is a fine tweeter, but 20+ year old technology. The RDO-198-1s are Silk Dome, and smooth as silk. Drop in replacements, no mods needed.
The Crossovers are due for a rebuild. You can upgrade to better Caps and Resistors, with the Same Value, and there's also the "Decato" Mod, which many feel improves the sound quite a bit.
