Got my new onkyo in and am pleased thus far...only had about 5 min play time and havent had chance to really play with but was wondering if anyone has a similar system than mine that has it calibrated. I can calibrate by my ear to my liking but was wondering what anyone else has theres set at until i get a spl to it. I left L,R,C,LS and RS @ 0db for now. I have 70's for fronts, 40 center and 28's rears. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

that depends all on the size room, But as a rule, start with your center on 0 ....... you could run left and right mains at +2 or so... surrounds just play it by ear until maybe we can get together with my Spl meter.. and set that svs up also..

so the fronts would beplaying at louder levels than the center  or is that to make up for watching HT and most of the sound coming through the center.

Thats how my system calibrated up.. The center is usually higher then the mains,(on a tv ) maybe in front or behind the mains a bit.. rarely straight inline and that's what makes the numbers slightly different i suppose.. make em all 0 if that makes ya feel better... really play it by ear.. but the meter is the true test. you may think they all sound the same,.., but the meter is 10x more accurate i would think. specially for the sub.. no way to play that by ear at all

My L/R/Center are all at +7. I think 62 on the Onkyo is my reference level at 75db.

I have the older model (696) of your Onkyo. I don’t think I have ever watched a movie over 48 on my receiver. It is already loud enough to make my ears bleed at that volume. You must have a rather large room to be hitting 62 on the volume!!!
    Mains: Polk RTi70's
    Center: Polk CSi40
    Surrounds: Polk TC60i's
    Sub: Polk PSW505
    Receiver: Onkyo TX-DS696
    TV: Samsung HLS 5687W 56"
    DVD: Sony DVP S5300
    Protection: Monster HTS 3600
    Backup Battery: Belkin AP3080010
